      I think this is something we should practice more often. By noting and working upon your previous thoughts makes you more of a thinker. You will learn to think about the words you choose. And you will know how to put pieces of information together so that you can understand concepts in your own words. In general re-writing text makes you understand it more and be able to focus on the topic.

      The transparent theory of language assumes the opposite, that words are more like clear windows opening to a meaning that can be separated from language.

      I agree with this theory. Words individually mean lots of things. It is important to look into their definitions and understand them to understand what the text is trying to portray. A phrase could mean so much more if you try to look past the initial phrase.
