      I would disagree that structure is independent of meaning because it is often structure that determines the meaning.

    2. Our ability to categorize words, as you can imagine, allows us to select and use words from our memories with great speed and accuracy.

      This reference to speed reminds me of the difference when I speak in my 1st language, English, verses when I speak in my 2nd language, Spanish. Sometimes when speaking in English I am told to slow down or repeat a statement because I spoke to fast. On the contrary, when I speak in Spanish I often take my time because my brain does not have as many words to select from as I am not as proficient in Spanish which cause an slower speed and less accuracy.

      I have honestly always wondered about the questions brought up in this paragraph, and I have never heard it explained in such a manner, but I definitely agree and have now adapted this perspective. Being born with a talent definitely sets one apart from another; however, the development of that skill/talent is what sustains it. As a results, "most human talents are both born and made." I love how that sentence summarizes that point.
