It tells historians about how women created networks even it looked like they were being shut away from the outside world
This sounds very interesting!

my main focus will still be Mulan.
What about Mulan?
I can’t believe the semester is almost over. Although I am enjoying this class, I think one of the challenging parts is trying to get my work done on time because of my busy schedule.
I can definitely relate to that struggle
. Males are superior to females and females do not have a voice.
"males were seen as superior to females"
Empress Wu knew that this will conflict with her position of power.
why was did it conflict with her power? it would be helpful to elaborate on this
We may consider how she did a good job to carry herself to be the female emperor and discuss my perceptions of why she may be the first and last female emperor in Chinese history.
you make a lot of interesting points here! perhaps it would be more readable if you broke it up into several sentences
anywhere
this is a little unclear, did you maybe mean to say "She did not come out of nowhere?"
I found it intriguing that in the case of a medical examination or discussion, a woman was able to express full autonomy over her own body through exercising her right to withhold information and enforcement of social modesty expectations, even though socially she may not be able to express the same level of will or autonomy to elder family members or her spouse.
I also found this interesting. Feminism was allowed to exist but only under incredibly specific conditions with very specific terms and limitations.
The idea of gender being (technically) associated with conditions like hot and cold is not entirely unimaginable to me, since the gendering of concepts and inanimate objects is a common social practice even today
I also found this very difficult to wrap my head around
After mentioning how I wanted to present my portfolio, some students suggest that I should do a presentation or a blog post on it. Despite that, I am still not 100% confident which presenting style I want to chose and hopefully, I will figure out something.
It's definitely tough to find a format that you feel comfortable with and excited about. Personally, I think a presentation would be very interesting to see.
My focus for the portfolio project is foot binding and its significance in Chinese culture.
this is a really cool article about footbinding that might be helpful to you: https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/pdf/10.1177/070674377001500218
In this reading, we see that most of the time men are treated as the person in charge when Cheng Maoxian attended sick individuals, women would not be afraid to take up the mantle when they were able to, which I found very interesting.
i also found this very interesting
including being an artist, archer, horsewoman, calligrapher, political activist and more
it is very fascinating how woman were able to curate so many skills despite the pressures and discrimination against them
She had autonomy over her life, able to choose her lovers and marry multiple people over the course of years.
i also found this very interesting
Over break, I have not done much to keep myself occupied but a time to relax my brain before heading back to campus
yes-breaks are so, so important!
I guess when so much of her story has been erased from history,
yes! for sure a common theme in this class
I’d love to dig into this a bit more and find out the story behind this work of art.
this would be a very interesting topic to explore
This is a pattern I would like to track as we continue to go through different eras with different groups of women. Published March 11, 2022By Madeline
interesting topic!
This reminds me of when we learned about women warriors. There seems to be a common pattern that if a woman performs some kind of service (entertainment or leadership) she is regarded with much more respect and freedom.
i really like this connection and the analysis you made about woman's roles and how they are viewed
While they were prostitutes, they also had other artist talents as well.
interesting contrast
r
again, the idea of history vs woman's history
but interest was focused mainly on their position in the family and on their social status.
definitely true in history classes ive taken
American
interesting to emphasize american woman. is there room for woman in other nations? will this be further explored?
Women’s History, at this stage, is no longer only a “field,” rather it is a methodology, a stance, an angle of vision
woman's history isn't just a history of woman but a lens in which history can be studied through
Women are made to fit into the empty spaces of traditional history.
interesting wording
disease.
no questions, read it through!
