I can’t wait to have my students jog in place at their desks before class everyday!
They will thank you for it later - maybe:)

“long-term endurance exercise such as running can alter muscles in ways that then jump-start changes in the brain, helping to fortify learning and memory.”
I hated running. My husband did his first marathon and I thought. "Hmm, this was a huge accomplishment" I was so proud of him and watched how it really helped him focus and get things done. I decided I would try to at least "like" running. I started training for a 1/2 marathon and three half marathons and two triathlons later - I do like running and miss it when I can't. My thoughts are clearer, I feel good and even crave it. I still hate the first mile though:)

Instead, a contextualized way for them to learn would be through real life situations where they have to use the language, and are able to learn and use new words and new grammar structures as we go. I

“Well Cast Journal”
This is similar to the Runtasic app. After you finish, it has you record how the run went and rate how you felt about your run.

Brain Health
I took a class on exercise and the brain - amazing! Check out the book "Spark" if you haven't already. They research the effects of exercise and learning with students.

moving visuals
I liked the moving visuals. I would love to learn how to do more of this.

At the beginning of the video I got the impression that this was going to be a parody, or was going to poke fun at people who exercise
Me too. I guess that grabbed our attention....

However, with unintentional solitude no longer mandatory, it might be a good idea for us to direct more thought into intentionally carving out times, places, and activities for being alone, not just in the realm of atoms and molecules, but in the realm of bits and bytes as well.
We went on a bike ride in Breckenridge a couple of weeks ago. I sat with all of our bikes while my husband and kids went to get ice cream. I caught myself pulling out my phone to "check up" on things and stopped. It was a habit. I decided to put it away and watch people. A favorite pastime. How long had it been since I had just sat and watched what was going on right in front of me? Wow! I enjoyed my moments of solitude in the midst of many people with my phone back in my bike bag.

There are three guys in the video introducing the deer repellent device, each of them taking turns to talk about the features of the device.
The guys seem to be having fun. It did take them awhile to get to the point, but I think that is part of there show. I've watched a few of their videos for home improvement projects.

Perhaps the most underused of all of their muscles is the imagination, as we seek desperately to find a recipe for something that already exists.

Are we creating a generation of people who cannot find the beauty in the mundane?
This is an incredible statement! There is beauty all around us and many times we fail to see it because we are so busy scheduling and running our children around to their "next" class, game and activity.
