.edu websites are hosted by colleges and other educational institutions, but that doesn’t automatically make their information scholarly.
Every time I've done research, certain .edu websites are so hard to navigate and unorganized, especially if made by a student.
stay on task. It is easy to get lost exploring interesting tangents while researching.
It is so hard for me to focus on one task. I'm sure it is for others as well. I get distracted so easily.
You can keep organized in a variety of ways. There are citation managers like Zotero and EndNote which can help generate citations and attach notes directly to the citation information and sources.
These are great recommendations. I've always used easybib. They have all of the different formats and give you all the prompts to fill in as well as fill in some information for you.
You probably use Wikipedia often.
I have always been told back in high school to never use Wikipedia so I have never once used it in a research paper or anything I've ever turned in.
This is when genAI tools can be helpful. Sometimes, like on Google, the first thing that comes up when searching a topic will be an AI-generated summary.
While AI has been taking part in our lives in places where its not necessary, I do think that sometimes the AI summary is super helpful when you need a quick overview of a topic. You no longer have to click on links to find an answer to your question, its right there at the top of your screen.
