    1.       What roles does costume and dress play in Tommo's character? He spends a lot of time describing and cataloging the Typee based on what he can see. But what about now, what happens when he changes his appearence?

      Tommo describes the Typee a lot through how they compare to European/White people and civilization, as I will futher annotate, but I am curious as to why? It's probably a number of reasons. This reminds me a little of Aphra Behn's Oronooko in how it presents the abject.

      Seems very gun-like to me. I wonder how/if this relates to Tommo's whiteness

      automatons, is a very interesting term to use, especially since it could continue a conversation of progress being 'against' the natural world.

      I am curious as to what position that Tommo is taking in having this opinion, where does he see himself situated in the context of this history.
