I remember the reference made to this particular passage during our slideshow, I believe on Monday, and it resonated with me because I had never considered the concept of the "privatized economy of invention," but this helps to reframe how I might approach brainstorming exercises in my own classroom. I've experienced struggle with helping students to brainstorm ideas for essays, and this concept will help my instructions to them by encouraging them to make connections to not only their world, their interests, but the larger spaces they may or may not inhabit.
