    1. This means that we cannot talk about what the world should be like until we come to an understanding of what the world is like

This doesn't only apply to the LGBTQ community, but to anything else. we cannot speak about something until we fully understand what it is we are talking about or claiming

    2. Refusing to call a group by the name that most in the group prefer borders on disrespect.

I agree that people should be referred to in a way they prefer, not only for the people in this community but anyone else in the world too

    1. Be grateful.

Through everything, if there is something we should be it is grateful because of all we have been provided with. Grateful whether it be towards nature, other people, or God.

    2. Sustain the ones who sustain you, and the Earth will last forever.

I like the first part of this quote to sustain the ones who sustain us because we should be helping the ones who have helped us in our lives, however not only them but anyone else we can help. I disagree with the second half because the earth is not going to last forever.

    1. And there is no other reason to begiven, why you have not dropped into hell since you arose in the morning, butthat God’s hand has held you up

The way I think about this statement is that we would not be saved or have salvation to go to heaven after we die if it was not for God and sending Jesus. We are not able to save ourselves therefore we are only saved through God.

    2. So that it is not because God is unmindful of their wickedness,

This statement can be viewed as a warning to all people because it is telling us that no matter what we do or how well we think we are hiding something, even though no one on earth may know, God knows everything and every sin we have committed.

    1. Gratitude is so much more than a polite thank you.

This is very true because gratitude is not only saying thank you but feeling blessed about what you have received and truly feeling thankful on the inside not just showing it on the outside

    2. If our first response is gratitude, then our second is reciprocity: to give a gift in return.

I agree with this statement because when someone is thankful and truly happy with what they have received they will want to give the same joy to someone else for them to experience it too.

    1. Do not hesitate to give, nor complain when you give;

we should be happy to give to others and help them, especially if we are fully able to. We have been given so much in our lives therefor we should be giving back to others the way we have been given to by them.

    2. But love those who hate you, and you shall not have an enemy

This saying can be very beneficial to some people because it may strike a flame in them to accept people more, however i have a hard time agreeing with it because no matter who someone likes or dislikes they will always have someone who doesn't like them regardless of their feelings.

    1. For the truth of the matter is that the Church and the scientific community will inevitably interact; their options do not include isolation

It is being stated that no matter the measures that may be taken or how much people may try to avoid it there will always be interaction between the scientific public and the church. Hence why towards the beginning he said that the church bears enormous responsibility, because they need to be prepared to deal with the scientific public and welcome them in when the time comes and talk about their differences in beliefs.

    2. We bear before God enormous responsibilities for the human condition because historically we have had and continue to have a major influence on the development of ideas and values and on the course of human action.

He is preaching to his audience that the church has a very important role in the lives of the community and public. They bare big responsibilities while they also hold an enormous reputation. The church has to be diligent yet welcoming to bring in more people to teach about their beliefs.

    1. Oh, God, if there is a God, I’m lost in this blizzard, and I’m gonna die if you don’t help me.’” And now, in the bar, the religious guy looks at the atheist all puzzled.

Atheists claim there is absolutely no God, however in this particular instance the atheist came into a dire situation and his beliefs of no such thing as God diminished. This shows that although people may not believe, they have some kind of conception of who God is.

    2. “Greetings parents and congratulations to Kenyon’s graduating class of 2005. There are these two young fish swimming along and they happen to meet an older fish swimming the other way, who nods at them and says “Morning, boys. How’s the water?”

The opening anecdote at the beginning of the speech grabs the audiences attention while also gradually explaining what is speech will be about.
