    1. But I went down the stone stairs to the hall where I had entered originally. I found I could pull back the bolts easily enough and unhook the great chains. But the door was locked, and the key was gone! That key must be in the Count’s room. I must watch should his door be unlocked, so that I may get it and escape

I can definitely picture this as a game setting. Sorry this isnt any help, just thought I would point this out!

    1. pride

After this quote, Dracula says that all his people died and he was left to defend his ground single handedly. Here he shows that he has forgotten about the team figure and almost goes behind his own people as well concluding that he is stronger than them. He does not need a team, he is more powerful than anyone combined.

    2. Here, in the whirlpool of European races, the Ugric tribe bore down from Iceland the fighting spirit which Thor and Wodin gave them, which their Berserkers displayed to such fell intent on the seaboards of Europe, aye, and of Asia and Africa too until the people’s thought that the werewolves themselves had come

This is sinful because very young, we are taught not to boast about who we are and here, Dracula is saying that he is greater than others.

    1. The attitude of the two had a terrible resemblence to a child forcing a kitten’s nose into a saucer of milk to compel it to drink.”

This also reminds me of the book A Doll's House when the main female character is almost dehumanized mainly because of her sexuality.

    1. I saw the monster cower back

I found this interesting that "monster" and "cower" are used in the same sentence. This immediately reminds me of the story in the bible about "David and Goliath". Much like Goliath, Dracula is viewed as the bigger more powerful character but, in this setting, is beat by the "underdog", Van Helsing.
