      I think that love is the stronger emotion. If you really loved someone, would you want them to die just because you couldn't have them and someone else could? Probably not. You would want whats best for them and whatever their decision you respect.

      She seems barbaric from what the story tells us, but I think that on the inside she can be a good person and help her lover, even though she might never see him again.

      They both aren't really fair. For in the Hunger Games, you are chosen randomly. In this, you are accused of a crime you may have not commited.

      Maybe he has schadenfreude when he watches his subjects pick which door and gets excited.

      I don't think so because in a real court you could explain that you did/didn't commit it, and possibly win, but here there is not really any fairness.
