    1. Hence, in rendering healthcare to athletes, certified ath-letic trainers need to be cognizant of their relationships to thelicensed physician as part of the healthcare team and, concom-itantly, the physician needs to be cognizant of athletic trainersproviding healthcare services under his or her direction andsupervision.

This is very important because without the relationship between the the athletic trainer and the physician, the athlete may suffer. Both the athletic trainer and the physician need to be in clear communication to help the injured athlete whether it be the for treatment, recovery, and more.

    2. defendants argued that plaintiff knew the sportof gymnastics carried with it inherent risks and assumed thoserisks.

I believe this all depends on whether the coach was teaching poor technique like Phil mentioned or it was a freak accident during her reverse hecht. That would turn this case one way or another.

    3. If acoach, trainer, or physician acts in a way that increases risksinherent in playing a particular sport, their actions could serveas a basis for potential liability.

I believe this is a no brainer. A coach, trainer, or a physician that increases the risks of injury, he/she should serve a basis for potential liability.

    4. The coach responded, “Okay, whenyou are ready to go in, come back and let me know.” He soonresumed play and collapsed during a time-out, having suf-fered a right subdural hematoma.

I understand Isaac's argument above, but I do put some blame on the coach. I say that because as a head injury, those are often pretty significant. Even though the Athletic Trainer had gave the clear, I would still allow for a second opinion when proceeding forward with letting the athlete go back into the game.

    5. Planning for athletic injuries and emergency situations that•may arise in the context of any individual athletic event andhaving those involved (including but not limited to physi-cians, team athletic trainers, and coaches) knowledgeablewith the applicable plan

This is important when going into a practice or an athletic event. Athletic Trainers always in my experience carry a bag full of equipment from an AED, scissors, athletic tape, gloves, band-aids, and so much more. They should always be quipped incase of an injury.

    6. That duty encompasses the duty of collegecoaches and athletic trainers to exercise reasonable care for thehealth and safety of student athletes.”

This is important to remember as a coach and/or athletic trainer. When you take on a job when athletes are under your supervision, it is important to exercise reasonable care for the health and safety of those athletes.

    7. Additionally, within a particularfield or profession, individuals who specialize may be held toan even higher standard of care than others in their profession. Thus, an orthopaedic surgeon may be held to a higher standardof care than a general internist.

I agree with this statement that different fields/professions may be held to higher standards when it comes to care, but I think anyone who is in direct contact with a specific athlete should hold themselves to a high standard when caring for an individual. I think everyone involved whether it be the coach, athletic trainer, physician, surgeon, etc. should all hold themselves to a high standard and proceed cautiously to make sure he/she is moving in the right direction of care.
