It's weird to me that one of the wealthiest countries in the world has such a high incarceration rate. Why so many and how many are just for minor offenses?

its disgusting how if they didnt do their "jobs" like picking cotton they were tear gassed or given less food and to be treated like that in 20th/21st century is disgusting and degrading.
