    1. The great weakness of allevolutionary/progressive styles of thought, not excluding Marxism, is that suchquestions are answered with impatient silence'

This resonated with me as I know that many of my peers, myself included have struggled with questions of why? What is the meaning of life? Religion is often a solution to that question. The idea that we are uncomfortable not knowing is very true. I feel that everyday with the climate crisis and know that these feelings will only get worse. It will be interesting to see what communities form due to global warming.

    2. Ultimately it is this fraternity

Drawing the parallel of a nation to a fraternity was really interesting to me. Within the college setting, especially now, when the greek system is so heavily in question, many of the same arguments can be made. There is a pattern within communities to pardon or alleviate its members of responsibility of their actions in order to "keep the group together" or the maintain the groups reputation. Additionally it creates an environment where people are pushed to make more extreme decisions in favor of or with the backing of their community. Because of the inherent exclusion that occurs when a community forms like is mentioned earlier in this reading, are communities inherently elitist or exclusive?

    1. and if you live in a large urban center like New York City, there is a demand for productivity at all hours.

This is interesting to think about in therms of the increased value of time since the technological revolution. As discussed in the readings and in class, time is the new measurement. We can get in instant communication with someone around the globe and be even more productive than ever. We are saving time on daily tasks such as doing the laundry with a machine or using a dishwasher. With these increased luxuries has come increased expectation. With the internet, everyone has the opportunity to educate themselves, apply for jobs, and more. As this passage in the article speaks about, productivity is now constantly expected, and at higher levels than ever before. This is a direct result of technology and globalization. It is important to note however, that there are many places in the world where this is not accessible to the average person. The gaps in technology and therefore productivity are only growing.

    2. frost in Brazil

This is showing how just like the articles mentioned, an event in one place has due to globalization an increased butterfly affect, and can cause drastic changes somewhere across the globe.

    1. “People have no idea this is happening

Globalization has allowed for the increased connectivity of peoples and news to travel in the blink of an eye. The fact that no one knows about this, in this extremely technological time, shows that technology and emphasis is not placed evenly all over. What gets news coverage, who has access to online platforms, who gets listened too, and what goes viral, is still very much skewed towards the western view.

    2. You go there seeking a living wage and can end up in a coffin

This reminds me of the paradox of the globalized world that was mentioned in the readings. The reading discussed how globalization often entails the spread of western ideas, but that western morals don't always transfer as well. Some countries have been able to greatly economically benefit from globalization without supporting human rights. This passage in the text highlights companies with poor working conditions that would not be tolerated in a western world. They are however, still benefitting in their own way from globalization.
