    1. Monsignor did say, however, that while he understood what it meant for people to identify as gay, “the transgender subject is somewhat new.” He told me: “I’ll need you to help me learn.”

I really like that they are trying to learn with her. That they aren't just pushing her away, and that they want to actually help her through this journey. I think that more churches need to be this way, and start caring about their congregation and followers as people than just following the teachings from thousands of years ago. The church needs to start changing with the times, and not staying the same.

    2. I am a lifelong Catholic. As part of my transition, I decided to speak to a priest during the sacrament of reconciliation. I obviously knew what our church taught with respect to being gay. At that point, however, the church was still silent regarding transgender persons.

I like how she talked to her priest about her transition. Just because you are catholic doesn't mean you can't be gay or transgender. I think that God has a plan for everyone and that everything happens for a reason. I like that she didn't run from the church because she was different than everyone else, and that she looked for guidance from her priest.

    1. Our theology of sex and gender does not reflect the actual world that God has created for us. It reflects, instead, an understanding from the world of another time.

I really like this point because the Bible was written a long time ago, so we have to interpret it differently to accommodate it this time period.

    2. we should not refer to persons in ways that may imply that they are essentially defined by something that they are, in fact, managing.

I don't think that LGBT people are managing this, I think that they are using it to define themselves and make that almost their whole existence. It is not the same thing as having a disease.

    3. The first was the Trump administration’s proposed modification of Title IX to define “sex” as either “male or female, unchangeable, and determined by the genitals that a person is born with,” leaving all “disputed cases” to be resolved through genetic testing.

I have to say I agree with Trump. Your sex is something you are born with, and I have always heard God made you in his own image. From Genesis 1:27, it says "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them." This here shows that God thinks that there are only two genders.
