    1. could tolerate the new racial values

I wonder how much they knew about the future plans of the Nazi party and whether this was them "tolerating" bad racial values in order to advance personally or simply not being aware of what the Nazis truly wanted long term

    1. Although the Nazi regime had no intention of keeping its contractual obligations, it did appreciate the international prestige this agreement brought and hoped that it would placate the Catholic Church for the time being.

I wonder what the Catholic Church's perspective was here? Did they believe the Nazis would hold to their contractual obligations or not? What was the rationale for helping the Nazis?

    1. Hitler’s charismatic status

Definitely a key for Hitler's rise to power. It's interesting how someone with ill intentions like him can rise to power, partly due to his charisma and ability to ignite people's enthusiasm for a cause.

    2. In this damaged and dishonest political environment, the Nazi capture of political power in 1933–4—the process by which Hitler’s leadership of a coalition government was transformed into the Nazi regime—was neither coup nor revolution, but nor was it a legitimate succession

Very interesting, I always believed that Hitler's rise to power was through a coup.

    1. 24. We demand freedom for all religious faiths in the state, insofar as they do not endanger its existence or offend the moral and ethical sense of the Germanic race

I find it interesting how all religions are free to practice, as long as they don't "offend the moral and ethical sense of the Germanic race". Clearly very ambiguous language that provides no real protection from governmental regulation.

    2. That all unearned income, and all income that does not arise from work, be abolished.

I wonder what "unearned income" means in this context...? Do they mean something like the dividend from a stock? In addition, seems like it would be tough to "abolish" a certain form of income, lots of logistical issues.

    3. Only those who have German blood, regardless of creed, can be our countrymen Hence no Jew can be a countryman.

Interesting how deeply this discrimination towards the Jews goes. They don't even consider Jewish people to have "german" blood.

    1. National laws are superior to the laws of the states.

This reminds me of the supremacy clause in the United States: the idea that federal laws outweigh state laws.

    2. (6) The press, the right of association, the right of assembly.

I think that when the government controls these things, it is never a good thing. Press should be independant and the right to associate and assemble should never be held hostage by the government.
