    1. In capitalist countries, the changes are made by writers and moviemakers not so much for ideological reasons as for financial ones.

      Although I do agree that profit has become a major motivation in modern retellings of stories, I still think the changes made by creators have just as much ideological weight as financial weight. Writers and filmmakers in capitalist societies may not set out to push ideology, but they are inevitably influenced by capitalist logic. Especially when working within major corporate institutions like Disney or Pixar, creatives are constantly surrounded by capitalistic values such as competition and upward mobility that they internalize to a certain extent and (consciously or subconsciously) reproduce in stories. Disney's Cinderella, for instance, promotes consumerist values through the use of the magical dress, carriage, and palace that reinforce the idea that wealth and beauty equal happiness. - Janu Kandalu, German 2254.02
