      Throughout the entire Declaration, we can see Ho Chi Minh bring up specific evidence to support the argument that the revolutionaries have the moral high ground, showing that both the French and Japanese have committed human rights violations. I think this also helps to build legitimacy for his new government and show to the world the atrocities of the colonizers.

      This section in particular reminds me of the American Declaration of Independence in that it lists the wrongdoings of France in Vietnam, similarly to how the American Declaration lists the colonist's grievances against King George.

      I have always wondered why the French in their conquest of Vietnam divided the county into three parts. Was this done intentionally as Ho Chi Minh says, to disrupt and divide the nation, or was it simply a feature of colonial conquest and the challenges of ruling over a large country? Why were the French so unwilling to unify the three parts, even when it was repeatedly demanded by earlier Vietnamese reformers.
