    1. Fake news” was actual false news: stories that were blatantly made up, written and shared by people in the US who were economically or politically motivated. Or, in some cases, by Macedonians seeking a paycheck. While the motives may vary, the product is the same: fictional stories.

      This statement was particularly interesting because it makes one think what the true motive of creating false news truly is? As stated, for some it may be a paycheck but there must be a deeper reason and unfortunately we may never know that answer.

      I agree with this statement due to the repetitive negative stories that would be broadcasted by news outlets. If its not new numbers of covid deaths its a crooked politician that is grabbing the headlines. Sometimes, we care for an escape from all the negative headlines and that escape can come in the form of celebrity news or gossip. Tabloids have been so popular to provide this escape and online apps like TikTok have now become the new portable electronic tabloid with their wide range of soft news topic that the public can choose from.
