    1. UDL empowers students to self-differentiate their learning and build autonomy and independence; this sends a powerful message.

This is an important question to ask yourself as a teacher before every lesson. Then, you need to reassess and ask if this is an achievable goal for students and how can this be achieved for different types of circumstances so all students are getting a fair shot at learning

    3. Every student is expected to read the same book at the same pace, listen to the same lectures, and complete the same math problems using the same materials.

All students are different. All students learn different and all students have access to different things. How can expectations be identical for all students when some have different advantages and disadvantages. Learning curriculums should be tailored to students different needs

    1. Instead, providing students with an eBook that allows students to listen to the text, instantly define words they are not familiar with, and interact with the information makes learning more accessible for everyone.

This is an idea I had never really thought about. I realized how technology can open doors for more learning, but it can also open doors for better learning. Children who cannot just sit down and read a textbook now have a device that can read to them. People several decades ago would have dreamed of this.

    1. teachers considered digital play as essential to learning.

I am not sure if I fully agree with this. It is definitely important to be comfortable with the internet and know how to use technology in this day in age, but classic reading, playing outside and circle time seem far more valuable in terms of social skills and constructivism. I think if kids are learning all day digitally, their playtime should not be digital.

    1. Digital tools, like speech-to-text apps or multimodal ebooks that present information in text and video or audio formats, can eliminate the barrier of reading word problems and allow the student to excel in math.

being accessible for all students should be the most important thing!!! I can't imagine trying to use a tool that did not tailor to me.

    2. As educators, our goal is to teach students, not just by transferring knowledge to them, but by creating meaningful learning experiences that support their knowledge and skill development.

I wish all teachers felt this way. sometimes I feel like I am learning just to get an A on the test, and then I forget everything after. It is important as teachers to be engaged and be meaningful, it makes a huge difference

    1. You can use Bloom’s taxonomy as a guide for defining appropriate, measurable learning objectives for your students and then select the best tools and apps to help students meet the objectives

    2. Instruction must be based on a student’s existing mental structures, or schema, to be effective

I am currently learning about this in another education course, and how constructive learning is when students use prior knowledge and apply it to new material. It is so important to incorporate student's past knowledge

    3. Theories provide a basis to understand how people learn and a way to explain, describe, analyze and predict learning.

this is very valuable because al students learn in different ways. as a teacher, using models ideas and frameworks are a way to ensure all students are learning effectively

    4. Bloom’s taxonomy

this is such a powerful tool that I have heard all about, but do not know much about. I am eager to read how to use it to better my uses of digital tools as an educator

    1. Not only should students be given the choice of which assistive technologies they use; teachers should also be able to have their voices heard

student voice is highly desired and it is valuable to receive feedback and ensure the classroom environment is beneficial. teachers also need to speak up and be honest about the tools they are using

    2. Provided that teachers have made this decision to the best of their abilities and in the best interest of the students, the benefits that can result from the incorporation of AI-based assistive technologies can be significant.

as a future educator, I am happy i am in this course to learn about the digital space that is at my fingertips. we cannot expect our students to use things that we dont know how to use. privacy is a topic I have never been concerned about, but it is something I am happy to have been faced with now before I have my own classroom

    4. In some cases, school boards wish to collaborate with innovators in the technology sector to enhance the integration of technology in education (Edmonton Public Schools, 2020b). School divisions should ensure that student and staff security and privacy is maintained, and that data collection and usage is transparent, while integrating the use of technology. In doing so, school divisions are validating that their intention is to provide authentic experiences and to inform users out of respect for those using personal or division-approved devices within the classroom.

collaborating with the creators of these tools is important to ensure safety and keep tabs of privacy. there is no need to be afraid of technology, but knowing how to use it makes our lives easier. it is good that schools now are conforming to the benefits that come with digital tools especially in these online times

    5. This notion can raise concerns about how student data is being used or manipulated

learning about how information and privacy is used while on the internet is just as important as knowing how to use the tool. especially as students, they are vulnerable and it is our job at future educators to develop our PLN will tools we have thoroughly looked into

    6. The inclusion of AI technology in the classroom can alleviate some aspects of a teacher’s workload and can also benefit student learning and achievement

    1. information might be collected, used, shared, sold, or stolen

we all get ads that pop up on our phones and apps that are targeted to things we have searched up or said. It is scary and sometimes creepy when I look something up once and it appears on every app i go on

    2. efore you download or use another app or digital tool:

all of these tips below are important to follow when using any digital app. this is something most of us do not do and marketers take advantage knowing nobody reads their services.

    3. Snapchat is collecting a significant amount of data, including usage, content, device, and location information

this is an app that is surging against younger populations and I guarantee some parents do not even realize the risks. this could be dangerous

    4. giving away even more data, such as your IP address, device information, browser information, geolocation, and Internet browsing data.

    5. signed up for a tool or downloaded an app without reading the terms of service or privacy policy

Every single app or tool I have used, I have never read the terms of service or terms of agreement. I am signing my name and agreeing to something when I have no idea what it says. This is bringing to my attention the privacy issues this could cause that I may want to consider.

    6. Is easy to understand (e.g., navigation is logically ordered; information is clear, concise, and simple). Provides immediate feedback and guidance (e.g., if a form is not completely filled out, the tool signals to the user what they have to do to complete the form). Is well designed (e.g., does not feature distracting ads or information; uses a simple interface with lots of white space). For content-based apps, such as math games, provides supplementary resources, activities, and information that give students additional support for developing their knowledge and skills.

I think all of these questions are so important to know. Do not just pick a website that may appear easy, dive deeper and make sure it is not just easy to you but to every circumstance.

    7. For example, you could setup QR codes that students can scan based on how they want to learn about a topic

    11. A good user interface will only include controls directly connected to the user's current needs

    12. maximizing learning and minimizing technology frustration

    1. For students with visual impairments, navigating online courses can be difficult if the content is not compatible with screen readers.

I think this portion of the article is great in the fact it covers how to make the lessons accessible to all different types of learners. It is important to be conscious of the environment for some learners and make sure there is a way to change that

    2. Specifically, 75 percent of the respondents reported not receiving training

How are students expected to retain information and get an adequate learning experience if their teachers can not succumb to their needs? How can a teacher teach their students if nobody taught or trained them on how to do better digitally? Using digital apps is more relevant now than ever and colleges have enough funding and knowledge to ensure all people in their facilities can use the tools they have

    3. Many, however, still haven’t received enough guidance on how to design remote instruction to meet such students’ needs and to comply with laws and regulations.

This is so concerning especially since we are still in a pandemic. I think it is up to teachers to try to learn about digital tools but also it is up to the higher up authority to ensure these teachers are being taught to their full potential. Every child needs an equal way to learn
