      we all write different so reviewing others work does help and it's beneficial since we get to notice differences in our writing

"Balance Socializing and Studying" on page 28 In high school, I procrastinated way too much and kept telling myself I need to stop it, yet I still did and still got my work done however it got me overwhelmed just because I waited last minute now I learned my lesson especially now in college I'm going to use my time wisely. The fact that I still get my work done on time is good because I do put my effort in it it's just the habit of procasinating was horrible and made everything 10x worse you know. I know I'm not the only one who done this serval time in high school others can relate to this too.

"High school students spend so much time stressing over getting into college-studying countless hours for standardized tests, traveling to visit campuses, laboring over every words in their admission essay" (pg. 27). I can relate because remember how much I was stressing for those college applications to get done before the deadline and writing those personal statements was long because really I overthink it.

    3. "Also, by establishing a friendship with a professor , you'll see her as less of an obstacle and more as a mentor".(page 28). Basically during my high school years, I feel like me speaking out and reaching out with my teachers one on one was beneficial. I wasn't afraid nor shy like some others be. I do see my professors as my mentors also not just depending on them but having that friendship is important because of guidance and help with further things in life.

    4. "What words for some, may not work for you. It's amazing how much you can grow during your college years if you remain open to new ideas....."(page 31). This right here is facts because thats one reason why I'm attending college is because I want to be able to open to new opportunities and really new ideas. I know it will definitely help me grow as a person because life takes new experiences day by day.

    5. "At age 18, I thought I had the world figured out.."(page 27). Honestly I can relate to this because turning 18 was a big deal like I had no idea and now realizing like wow I'm officially on my own and be self-reliant you know so it feels weird but I'm adapting to the adult life.

(page 30) This is a good point because I personally know this is true because some of my family friends and friends before me that I'm still contact with decided to dropout because they felt like school wasn't for them or it wasn't in the right moment yet they just wanted to take a year off or so and they decided to go back and finish and now they're all satisfied. Basically every has a different college path they want to take such as how many years they want to finish or so.

    1. If we borrow another person’s ideas, language, sentence structures without properly acknowledging them, this is plagiarism and undermines our credibility.

      This is important because it's not our own work so we are suppose to give credit and make sure we cite when we use any information from others.

    1. On page 265, it says "How is the back man going to get "civil rights" before first time....." I still don't get it because the slaves on the other hand.

    2. On page 265, it says " As I see it today, the ability to read awoke inside me some long dormant craving to be mentally....." The fact that he had the ability to read and learn new words and progress from there is huge impact and how he educated himself and the fact thats how he couldn't go through the same education as us is mind blowing.

    3. Page 265, the last paragraph, "How is the black man going to get "civil rights" before he wins his human rights?". African Americans are still going through it.

    4. On page 258-559 reading malcom x story in prison is really interesting wow. His story proves that even in a tough situation you still can be hardworking and learn more new things.

      Asians parents expect high standards of their own children for us to have a better "life" yet we can still be great but they just have high expectations and if we don't listen to what they say we feel bad and don't feel accomplish. It's just complicated.

    1. Even now and 3,000 miles away, I can see my mother spic-ing the ground beef, pork, and venjson with chile. My mouth salivates at the thought of the hot steaming tamales I would be eating ifI were home.

      I like the way she puts out imagery and food language in this story. It reminds me of my aunt who lives so far from me.

      No one should feel like they don't have the experience if they can't speak their language.

      I can connect to this because I can speak certain things to my friends and siblings and my parents therefore it's like who I feel like I can open up to them when I'm close to them and comfortable so it feels like "home" and I can only understand my parents language when they speak it to me so it's a bit odd and weird.

      I feel like as a student, we all have all types of experience in our life and yes we learn from our own experiences therefore we can interact with others when we do write essays or read other essays then we are more engage if that make sense.

      Yes everyone has their own ways of learning and it's good to have our own way of processing also because it takes time.

      I feel like we should be mentally ready and have the mindset so we can feel good to learn.

      I agree with this because opening up to new reading and writing can make us realize how to build our strategies for reading and writing.

      This is definitely important because it shows how much we should care about our work we put into this class and we are suppose to earn our grade not expect it therefore we can have goals for ourselves and become better readers and writers as we build our English in this class.

      It's always good to share our thoughts and ideas because maybe who knows we can relate somehow also be more interested like we can even have the conversation so the class won't be silent.
