I find this to be an interesting word choice as its extremely closed to intended audience which is a huge part of author's purpose in writing. It is definitely something to note for digital writing as well.

This reminds me of a part of my argumentative lesson as I spoke on how it is important for students and all readers to know when they are reading something that is trying to persuade them or convince them of something. I highlighted on how it is important to recognize when ethos, pathos, and logos are being used. Here Mullen is speaking on the same with how reading maps is important for readers to know for multiple reasons and can help create dynamic texts.
