The Spaniards hanged a chief from Acolhuacan named Nezahualquentzin. They also murdered the king of Nauhtla, Cohualpopocatzin, by wounding him with arrows and then burning him alive.

      So there had already been bloodshed caused by the Spanish? Yet the Aztecs still hosted them with hospitality... could this be due to the fact that Montzuma & co. thought they were gods?
