DYD is an out-of-school program developed to engage middle school girls indesign-based engineering and computer science activities, with a special focus onrecruiting and retaining girls from underrepresented urban communities, especiallygirls who have not expressed interest in STEM.
I am a little confused by the thought process here: 1) If it is the way that curriculum is currently taught that pushes girls away from STEM, shouldn't reforming that be the focus? 2) If it is the outside environment, do we need to address any nature vs nurture arguments, or is the assumption that it is nurture that is the biggest driving factor?
