Thismonitoring enabled us to show that three toxic trace elements wereencountered in the museum environment: arsenic, mercury andlead.
All three can cause harm with even the smallest amount.

The aim of this study was to determine the exposure of em-ployees to these trace elements, and to quantify the related pollu-tion in the Museum. Measurements were carried out in differentlocations (exhibition rooms, storage rooms, windows ...) in theMuseum of Rouen over two years (2013e2014).
Important study and one that I had never heard of before.
The presence still today of these biocide residues in collectionsraises questions about the safety of staff, and potentially of that ofvisitors
This is something that I feel like isn't talked about much in relation to the preservation of historical collections.
