This lyric expresses how Jefferson feels towards Hamilton. Following Hamilton's win in the first cabinet battle, Jefferson has been upset with the power he has lost and the power that Hamilton has gained. To further express, he believes without Washington by his side he is nothing.

      • Since my tagging was not uploaded, the following is what I tagged: cabinet= object, Washington=person, Disciplined Dissidents=organization/group, Kid=person, and Watching him grabbin' at power and kiss it= event.

    1. But—look around, look around, the Revolution’s happening in New York

This lyric sung by Angelica correlates with the seventh song in this act titled You'll Be Back in regards to the Revolutionary War that is taken place. In this case, Angelica is talking about the Revolution that is happening in New York, while in You'll Be Back the King of Great Britain is expressing how they will never achieve independence.

    1. I will kill your friends and family to remind you of my love

This lyric contains two person(s) within an event. "Family" and "friends" are controversial as they are plural versions and can be categorized as a group. With that said, I tagged these two words as "person(s)" because I believe it fails to reach the requirements of a group or organization. When I think of a group or organization I picture a lot of selected individuals, like an army.

    2. send a fully armed battalion to remind you of my love!

This lyric contains an object within an event, and is sung by George III of the United Kingdom. The King is enforcing his power to the colonist of the United States of America by expressing that they will always be under British rule. To grasp a better understanding I have attached a link about the American Revolutionary War. [(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Revolutionary_War)]

    1. This made the encoding process much easier because I personally like reading on paper rather than on a computer.

I agree, this process made the semantic encoding process of the assignment easier. Most importantly, this prevented tags from being missed. To further express my experience, I encoded all four songs at once rather than encoding them separately.

    2. Throughout the process, there were situations where I was torn between different ways to tag certain words or phrases.

From class discussion and personal experience, this problem was common for the entirety of the assignment. In regards to your encounter with the dog, by identifying if the dog contains human traits would allow you to label him as a person versus an object. In this case, the dog is compared to a person, ensuring why the dog should be tagged as a person.

    3. I found this quote to be very true because although it was harder to do the semantic encoding because I had to make certain decisions about what to tag, I found it more interesting. The structural encoding was very tedious because I had to go line by line giving the same tags over and over again.

I agree. The structural encoding was repetitive, tedious, and boring. Whereas the semantic encoding differed in regards to tagging objects, people, places, and concepts. However, both are required to acquire a PDF document comprised with color coded words in relationship to their specific tagging.

    1. By counting the number of songs that Angelica appears in and analyzing the lyrics it is to be assumed by the audience that she has feelings that go beyond those of a sister-in-law. Hamiltons’ influence on Angelica is one that shapes the show and Hamiltons’ relationship with his wife.

Overall, this reflection essay is comprised of strong valid evidence that supports the beneficial outcomes Voyant can provide. To further support the claims you made, I suggest using Voyant visualizations and analyzing act one and two separately. Also, the flow from paragraph to paragraph allowed me to stay engaged in the reading.

    2. Their relationship continues throughout the show and even while Angelica is not fully present she still sings about Hamilton and her longing for him, this all changed in the song “The Reynolds Pamphlet” Angelicas’s priorities switch back to where they started which is protecting her sister.

In order to further expand on this observation, utilize a tool in Voyant to visualize and examine the correlation between Angelica and Hamilton.

    3. status and power.

To further strengthen the argument towards determining who is who when the speaker tags are removed, look to identify the pronouns that associate with each character. For instance, high-status individuals use the words we, I, and you. Whereas, low-status individuals overuse the word I.
