      This part of the text is sad and sort of surprising. It was obvious that life wasn't the best at this time, and conditions weren't the best for most, but to hear more about what conditions were like, especially for such a big operation, it's sad to hear about.

      I found this interesting because of how far and how quickly they would go to restore the railroad services. It's interesting to me how important it was at the time.
