Knowing how the fight was already difficult to change the vote itself but it took overturning the entire system for female inequality. Suffrage being a direct challenge towards a woman's legal status as dependents and a way to improve the progressive Era Reform movement.
Among self-ascribed Celts it was the discourse of nationalism above allthat carried and enforced the racial meanings of Irish identity. Irish na-tionalism, of course, has a complex history of its own, but for the presentpurpose the specific ins and outs of Irish nationalism as a political pro-gram are less important than the more diffuse currents of myth and sen-sibility that were embedded in Irish immigrant culture.

this part in the paragraph just shocks me. the fact that with so much hardship with protest and consistently reading what obstacles were crossed just to have so many set backs. To finally have some recognition and have supporters who are there to help, this just shows the improvement in others.
