    1. o see ourselves as al-ways and only in competition with one another for patriarchal ap-proval, to look upon each other with jealousy, fear, and hatred.

This is true as well. It is even portrayed in media and films, it makes me think of the movie Mean Girls. And after all of the girl against girl drama, there was a moment of clarity between them and in the end the girls didn't fight against each other. Crazy connection I know.

    2. A malewho has divested of male privilege, who has embraced feministpolitics, is a worthy comrade in struggle, in no way a threat to femi-nism, whereas a female who remains wedded to sexist thinking andbehavior infiltrating feminist movement is a dangerous threat.

This really goes back into a previous statement, like if a woman cannot separate the sexism that has been built into her, she cannot accurately help the cause. And this woman becomes a dangerous threat, the informed allied man is the more worthy comrade as Hooks states in this circumstance.

    3. ) the idea that women needed to firstconfront their internalized sexism as part of becoming feminist lostcurrency

Its like the idea of attacking from the heart, if a woman wants to make a change in society, they have to dismantle their idea of their role in society in order to revolutionize it. If they do not confront their internalized sexism, then the cause is lost.

    4. feminist consciousness-raising groupswill take place in communities

I feel like its so easy to find information about feminism on social media, lots being wrong and some being right, but I rarely see feminist groups or meetings. I knew this class would be a great gateway to hearing other womens' experiences and to educate myself.

    5. Revolutionary feminist consciousness-raising emphasized theimportance of learning about patriarchy as a system of domination, how it became institutionalized and how it is perpetuated and main-tained

I feel like most people don't understand entirely what a patriarchy is and what it is in our society, including myself. It is so easy just to use what is deemed feminist language without understanding its true impact. This text isn't incredibly wordy or hard to read but you have to be able to dissect it is what I have found with feminist books.

    6. Itwas as if a large body of feminist thinkers banded together to forman elite group writing theory that could be understood only by an"in" crowd.

Sociology can explain why mini groups and especially elitist groups form within, but it is incredibly interesting that these "crowds" even form within feminist groups where they stand for breaking down of division and twisted thinking.

    7. When women of color critiquedthe racism within the society as a whole and called attention to theways that racism had shaped and informed feminist theory and prac-tice, many white women simply turned their backs on the vision ofsisterhood, closing their minds and their hearts.

The feminist movement and the civil rights movement are coexisting within similar time periods as well as overlapping, yet women are not coming in masses to help other oppressed people, especially their own sex. We would assume that if a oppressed group needs help we would help as well because we know what it feels like to be oppressed, but they were faced with closed minds.

    8. The enemy within must be transformed before we canconfront theenemy outside.

Because if this isn't attacked and changed, feminism isn't standing for the right reasons.

    9. "Christian" cul-ture,

This is so interesting in the fact that religion plays such an important role in our society, how we treat others and our view of how society should look. Women being subordinate to men in the household seems so old fashioned but it is still thought of that way, either in passing or flat-out said.
