    1. Surely some revelation is at hand;Surely the Second Coming is at hand. The Second Coming!

      In the bible, when they talk about a second coming its a good thing. It means that Christ has come back for the loyal believers to take them back up to heaven. Usually people rejoice this idea, but Yeats seems to make it sound like a bad/scary idea. He makes the second coming sound like something heinous is coming.

      This part stood out to me because it made me think about the golden rule you learned in kindergarten, "do to others as you would have them do unto you" although Auden seems to put this idea into the bully's perspective, that because evil has been done to them they continue to do evil. It reminds me of the cycle of abuse that plagues our society. When someone is hurt they often turn around and continue to hurt others.

    1. Would it have been worth while,

      I feel like this line is significant because it is something that all former lovers have asked themselves, was it worth it? What did I gain from this experience, was the love and the heartbreak worth it? And if you had missed out by not telling the person you love that you love them, was it worth avoiding it? What would your life had looked like if you had stood up?

    2. Of lonely men in shirt-sleeves

      I liked this line and thought it was significant because at first i thought this poem would be a great love when in reality its mostly about the idea that a middle aged man has lost a love, or never gained the confidence to tell the woman how he felt. This line reiterates the idea that the author is a lonely man, who no longer has a love
