    1. However, if the school districts across the US deemed schools unsafe when there were only 1500 cases, then how could they open them when there are 3.5 million cases?

This is really strong in my opinion

    2. As Beck says, “In telling the story of how you became who you are, and of who you’re on your way to becoming, the story itself becomes a part of who you are”.

This ties your whole writing together

    3. In Julie Beck’s article “Life’s Stories”, she talks early on about the expectations people have about their own lives. Becks states a common thought many people have; “It’s just not how I expected my life would be”.

The way that quote is set up seems a little awkward to me. The first thought from beck's article is set up with "she talks about" and then the quote is set up with "Beck states." It seems a little repetitive

People have these ideal versions of themselves that they try to live up to

    2. “I’m the only person that I can rely on in my life because I’ve tried to rely on other people and I either get stabbed in the back or hurt, so I really know that I can only trust myself and rely on myself,”

Many people who experience trauma feel like this...especially trauma related to parents

    3. If there wasn't some kind of uplifting, redemptive end to the story (beyond just the fact that they survived), “The listeners did not like that.”

      People want happy endings

    4. finding a positive meaning in negative events is linked to a more complex sense of self and greater life satisfaction.

People try to find a positive to everything

    5. Having redemption themes in one’s life story is generally associated with greater well-being, while contamination themes tend to coincide with poorer mental health.

Redemption means that everything ends well...which is similar to the other common life narrative of getting married and having kids

    6. f this approach were a blueprint for an Ikea desk instead of a life, almost everyone trying to follow it would end up with something wobbly and misshapen, with a few leftover bolts you find under the couch, boding ill for the structural integrity of the thing you built.

Not everybody has the same lie narrative and we can't expect everybody to...humans are so different

    7. One such blueprint is your standard “go to school, graduate, get a job, get married, have kids.”

This is such a common narrative that if someone doesn't follow this narrative people don't understand and/or will judge

    8. This is basically the premise of talk therapy

Talk therapy does not work for everyone, but it does work for some people because not everyone's minds work the same way.

    9. A listener “may give you other things to think about, or may acknowledge that this thing you thought was really bad is actually not a big deal

Kind of like ranting to a friend and they give you advice and help you see it from a different perspective.

    10. If someone is afraid of how people might react to a story, and they keep it to themselves, they’ll likely miss out on the enrichment that comes with a back-and-forth conversation.

      !!!

Very true...social standards will force people not to share things or share them differently

    11. One is that people tailor the stories they tell to their audiences and the context.

People will change their story based on who they are telling it to in order to fit in or not face consequences or even seem cooler

    12. When you’re a kid, it’s mostly about plot,” McAdams says. “This happens and this happens. You’re not tuned into the idea that a character develops.” Thus, perhaps, the appeal of cartoon characters who never get older.

When people are young they don't care about anything other than pure entertainment; comedy, drama, etc. As we mature, we care more about the other stuff...we want to watch or read something that will make us think.

Reminds me of the social standards we were taught when we were young: manners, right from wrong, and more. We had to "act" a certain way

      ???

Wiki:In mathematics, a Möbius strip, band, or loop is a surface with only one side (when embedded in three-dimensional Euclidean space) and only one boundary curve. The Möbius strip is the simplest non-orientable surface.

    15. “identifying lessons learned or insights gained in life experiences, marking development or growth through sequences of scenes, and showing how specific life episodes illustrate enduring truths about the self,”

Chapter and book titles to one's life

Instead of one large book, there are multiple books on different topics with multiple chapters.

Connecting the events in our life is like adding chapters to a book. They're all related to make one story

    18. even if it’s not 100 percent universal to see life as a story, it’s at least extremely common.

    19. that’s just how humans communicate

I don't personally believe that everyone communicates this way, there are people that don't use stories or connect the parts of their life together like that...but many humans do.

    20. ‘It’s just not how I expected my life would be,'

This is exactly how I've been describing the position that quarantine has put us in. With everything from my last semester in high school, graduating high school, and starting college.
