    1. Research methods are the tools, instruments, practices, processes—in-sert whatever making metaphor you prefer—that allow you to answer ques-tions of interest and contribute to a critical conversation, or a grouping ofrecognized ideas about that interest

When you do research, you’re not only find out the answer that everybody else has made for the question, but you start gathering your own knowledge on the subject, and you start creating your own opinion on it.

    2. There is no pure objectivity when it comes to research

This just dropped some light into researching and how there is no intended objective. It’s just about having a question and finding out what the answer is even if it was something you expected or was something unexpected you create knowledge on it.

    3. Research does not start with a thesis statement. It starts with a question

This is true because when you start a research paper, you start with the question not too much a prompt per se. You start off with the question and you do research and you’ll find out the answer and that’s how you start your essay or report etc.

    4. Composition is about knowledge-making, not just writing about knowledge.

To me this just opened up a new way of looking at things like writing isn’t just something that you write down on paper. It’s something you need to think about and create your own knowledge about when you do research, etc..

    1. research. In fact, the name research paper is, in itself, misleading,as it implies that research is a practice only used in a particulargenre or instance, rather than as a fundamental element of nearlyall forms of academic, workplace, or personal writing.

I believe this is true many things can be researched not just in research papers. It can be anything that’s looked up.

The research papers helps with finding new resources on how to research information

    3. Researchingisn’t meant to be a narrow task of looking up information, butof creating and discovering new information in response to prob-lems

This is a good way to think about research it’s not just looking things up and writing things down but it could be used to get some more knowledge on a topic.

    4. ofthe primary problems with the research paper is that it teachesstudents that to do research is to look things up

Honestly this is the way I go when I do research papers I look things up on the internet. I need to try going to the library.

    1. There is no writing inoculation, because there is no such thingas writing in general. But this isn’t bad news. Rather, it gives allwriters permission to keep learning, to fail, and to engage in newkinds of writing in new situations

I think ending this passage like this is such a good way to look at things because we all try to do the best we can and it really is just a journey of trial and error and that’s okay and normal.

    2. A better conception of writing is one in which we all remem-EHU UHDOLVWLFDOO\ RXURZQH[SHULHQFHVOHDUQLQJWRZULWHLQGLŲHU-ent situations, and then apply that memory to our expectationsof what we and others are capable of achieving

This is a good way of looking at things because when we read about our own stories, we have to go back into our memory and remember a certain situation to be able to write an accurate description or story to what we’re telling.

    3. The same is true forany other kind of writing—we write in our journals and think ofRXUIXWXUHVHOYHVRUDQ\RQHZKRPLJKWÀQGWKHMRXUQDO

This is a very good way to look at things because it is true that we can write in our journals and we do have that thought that our future selves or anyone reading our journal can find it in some way.

    4. The idea that we can all learn to “write in general” is not justa harmless myth. It’s a dangerous idea that needs to die because ithurts students and frustrates teachers and employers.

I feel like this is such an interesting way to look at this “harmless myth” because it can be so frustrating trying to figure out what to write about.

    1. One learns about oneself as one writes and by asserting the self

This is very true because we get to know ourselves when we have to relive an experience and write about it and we have to put out our feelings towards the subject into paper into words and I can give it a whole different meaning and it can make you rethink a situation or how you felt about it.

    2. explains, “As a writer, I continue to analyzeDQG UHÁHFW RQ WKH SRZHU ZRUGV KDYH RYHU PH

This is important because there is a lot of power in our truths, and in experiences that we live before nothing could ever be told from a better perspective than from one who’s lived that certain subject/narrative.

What The tampoco se anyone who has read a great deal. Can imagine that the new world that opened.” - This was significant to me, because once you can learn how to read and can advance to bigger dialogue books. You really do open up a new world of fiction and nonfiction.

    1. It is important to remember that in many cultures around the world, stories are sacred. When using them in schools, one must secure permission to tell them

I have heard that many culture stories are considered sacred and sometimes traumatic so having the permission to be able to share them in schools, and in general must take permission from the author.

    2. We acknowledge that stories by diverse groups have been concealed, lost, or retold through the lens of the dominant culture and that counter-storytelling works to magnify the stories, experiences, narratives, and truths of subjugated peoples.

I’ve always thought that being able to hear about other people stories and issues can open up a new discussion to a lot of other people who have an experience those kinds of stories. I don’t think that issues like these can actually occur in real life. One person’s reality can be totally different than others and having the space to speak on them can leave space for learning.

    3. Stories offer students creative freedom to design solutions for societal challenges and to envision a better future. Ultimately, students can gain a sense of agency in working to persuade others to take action through their powerful storytelling.

I do agree that true storytelling can have an understand and can lead to a type of persuasion being told by the storyteller, which can move the audience to want to take action on the social issues being brought to their attention .

    4. Telling and inviting personal stories is a rich way to build a classroom community. Adults are not the only ones that should tell or listen to stories. Students need to tell their stories

I think this is really true telling our own stories to our classmates is a way of building trust and understanding within our classroom community. It invites our fellow students to get to know us in a deeper form and get a little inside on our understanding of things.
