    1. Our poems formulate the implications of ourselves, what we feel within and dare make real (or bring action into accordance with), our fears, our hopes, our most cherished terrors.

Wow I love this poem! This poem has so many holes in it to make you think and reflect on your own experiences. This sentence makes the metaphor as a drive to readers. Showing that us human have so many dreams and hopes, but sometimes we are too scared to act on those dreams and hopes because the fear overpowers it. This helps me realize and want to prove the reader wrong in my life.

    2. silences begin to lose their control over us.

This part of the sentence is powerful to me personally. Because everyone has battles and if we keep them silent they are going to take control of us. It encourages the reader to talk to loved ones so they don't lose the battle.

    1. Special characters are used to represent Sumerian and Akka- dian words. The letter & is pronounced like sh in ship, the letter § like ng in song, though in Sumerian it can also stand at the be- ginning of a word, as in gipar

I like how the definitions of the words were included in the poetry. It gives more of learning aspect and better understanding of what each word means.

    2. poems are always full of holes.

This is a great metaphor. More than likely a poem will not tell you word by word what they are trying to covey, instead the use mystery to help you think more on the poem and express your own thoughts with your own experiences.

What I think is interesting is how in one of the first poems I read they stated that use commas to a minimum, but in this sentence there are multiple commas. Should the author used more descriptive words?

    2. whethertherewassuchathingasalivingpoetatall.

Honestly this a very rightful statement. I don't really hear of any current poets. I mostly learn on old time poets.

    1. Youmightsayapoemisasemicolon,alivingsemicolon,whatconnectsthefirstlinetothelast,theactofkeepingtogetherthatwhosenatureistoflyapart

I love how this was integrated into the writing as a metaphor. Because it is known by many people that a semicolon represent a suicide survivor. I have made connections of how poems can be like people struggles.

    2. siertotalkabouttheendofapoemthanitistotalkaboutitsbegin¬ning

I relate to this sentence, because anytime I read a poem in the begging I do not know fully what the poem is about until near the end. It is just like in humanity you do not know a person just by a few sentences and a few conversations you get to know the person after you keep engaging and learning more about them.

    1. if you think you need a question mark, then rewrite so that syntax makes the interrogative nature clear

This was an interesting statement in the poem. In english class it is known that punctuation in any piece of writing and even in a single sentence; punctuation is extremely important. This also helps remind the reader to use descriptive words when writing their own poems to make the reader feel more connected.

    1. I will also communicate with you through CANVAS announcements,

This is extremely helpful! My outlook gets packed full with emails so this helps me stay organized through the whole semester.

    2. I am not expecting perfect work.

I like how this statement gives me reassurance towards my upcoming assignment. I constantly doubt my work becuase I am fearful of not using my own ideas rather than be concered of what my teacher is looking for.

    3. there is an automatic 3-hour grace period.

This shows how understanding Professor Folasade is. Life happens and you forget and it is very appreciative from me that he is willing to give this opportunity to his class.

    4. As long as work has been submitted that fulfills all of the requirements of the assignment, work will receive at least a B grade.

I really like how professor Folasade included this in his syllabus. Because one of my worries is failing my teacher's expectations when I gave an assignment my all. Especially with poetry. Poetry is an art and I believe that if you give your all in an art it should be recognized rather than getting a poor grade on it. In conclusion, it is reassuring to know my professor will be looking at my hard work with my own mind.
