    1. LikeFish Is Fish, everything the children heard was incorporated into that pre-existing view.

      The fish is fish illustration made me think about how it may be easy to assume students see things the way we do because we may not be aware of what preexisting views they hold. I think it would be important as a teacher to not let students' misguided views surprise you but to spend more energy helping them understand the information.

      I liked how the author stressed that being knowledgeable about connections does not signify that you will know the answer to everything, but instead that you will know more than just the facts. I think learning the connections of information not only makes it easier to recall that information, but it also makes learning the subject more interesting.

      When I read this I thought about how it almost seems as if it is as important to know a subject as it is to know yourself and be able to assess your knowledge. I wonder if this (assessing students' knowledge) is something teachers incorporate in the classroom and how they would do that.
