I think I've see more deep hierarchies more than flat hierarchies. Flat hierarchies tend to excel when you have a very simple website whereas the deep ones have more information in each categories. I wonder what a hybrid would look like?

    1. Audience-Based Website Navigation

I think I understand why segmenting between business and user is bad in some ways. A business sole website should focus primarily their user base. If there was navigation for businesses then you wouldn't have a brand that serves to customers but instead business to business. The money comes from the customer base. Designers need to account what the business MAIN AUDIENCE, and figure out their pain points.

    1. One trend in user interfaces (UI) and user experiences (UX) is using air gestures, where people wouldn’t need to touch screens. Do you see this technology growing? I predict that air gestures will spread not as a replacement for existing interaction methods, but as an alternative for achieving specific purposes. This is because, although it has been over a decade since smartphones and tablets became widespread, mice and touchpads are still the primary tools for office work. Similarly, even as air gesture recognition becomes more accurate and the necessary sensors become commonplace, I believe they will be used alongside our current input methods. In the context of HCI research, studies on air gestures have often emphasized benefits like speed and reduced physical burden. From my perspective, however, performing fine-grained operations with air gestures is still difficult. This means the importance of how accurately users can perform tasks will likely be even greater than it is for touch or mouse interactions. Conversely, this suggests that applications where a coarse operation is sufficient to achieve a goal (e.g., swiping left or right in the air above a smartphone to navigate web pages) might be a very appropriate use case.

Smart home devices like Amazon Echo already achieves this differently. For sure air gestures can be a great addition but it's already obsolete because Amazon Echo can listen, which majority of the population prefers to use their own voice.

I like how this crosses into entrepreneurship, for you to have good design first you need to have some type of iteration of your product. The first design choice may be a hit or miss but what matters is how you respond back to the customers wants and needs. The customer is the guide to having a great design.

      1. What I liked about the video that talked was about how our designs can impact multiple groups of people. Namely such as the stop lights design and color can change traffic accidents. Initially what you designed for the major population can exclude the minority.

      2. We should also think about how our design can be creative enough to relate to majority of problems that people are having. This allows us to aggregate the solution for most people.

    1. The second weapon was A/B testing (Figure 5).

Reading the article I think I've come to the conclusion that majority of these dark patterns comes from the initial idea that it's actually marketers pushing for these dark patterns. The reason why they are so prevalent is because it works in bringing more money for the business.

Just commenting on this part of the slides. I find it confusing that there was another step to part 3 'INSTALL TOOLS'. It's not oblivious for the down arrow to pop up.
