    1. Tacoma Arom

TEXT: The title "Tacoma Aroma" positioned in large words a the top of the poster makes the audiences' initial reaction negative, seeing Tacoma as a gross city juxtaposing the underlying message that the Tacoma Aroma is part of what makes the city wonderful and a home. This underlying message is shown in the text at the bottom of the poster which states about the aroma, "more like green lights, less like barbed wire, a hint of blackberries" This contrasts the negative connotations the smell could represent about tacoma, and highlights positive parts of the city therefore encouraging citizens to view the aroma endearingly.

COLOR: The poster has three main colors, all neon and bright, which overlap, making the poster difficult to look at. The overlap in colors contributes to the initial dislike and discomfort viewers will feel when initially looking at the poster. The print predominantly uses bright shades of yellow, red, and blue. However the smaller text which provides a comforting home-like perspective on the Tacoma aroma is in green, highlighting it's truth and difference from the initial harsh colors of red and yellow.

    1. Awake

TEXT: The text of the poster "Awake" has an essential role in carrying the message of the poster, because there aren't any other aspects of the print like an image. The text, like many of Beautiful Angle's posters, refers to Tacoma as "O Holy City". This title reinforces the idea that the city is not only a home for it's citizens but also that it carries a deeper, more spiritual importance.

COMPOSITION: The composition of the text consists of lots of overlapping text. While the main text is very clear, the overlapping sentences are hard to decipher but seem to be repeating the initial text. This could be reinforcing the meaning of the text, stressing the idea that Tacoma is a "Holy City".

    1. VOTE

HISTORY: The poster was published in September of 2020, only two months before the presidential election between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. Given the information on when the poster was created and published, it can be assumed that the poster was in response to the election, promoting the Tacoma community to use their ability to vote.

TEXT: The text of the poster is very direct with not many words and a clear message, the poster wants the Tacoma community to vote. However the poster is relatively open ended in it's political bias despite it's clear connection to politics.

    1. Bend

TEXT: The large text is the central aspect of the poster particularly the quote "Bend Toward Justice" famously spoken by Martin Luther King Jr. This text as a direct reference to the Civil Rights Movement is very political as it relates to how justice plays it's role in human rights. Below these larger words is a piece of text which discusses what should be sacrificed under oppression. This text seems relatively controversial as it highlights the necessity for a person to break their heart when oppressed. Compared to the bold statement of leaning towards justice not breaking under oppression.

COMPOSITION: The poster is composed only of words with no imagery, therefore relying on the text alone to relate to the audience. The larger text being the central part of the poster enunciates it's message and importance to the audience.

      The Space Between:

COMPOSITION: The composition of the poster The Space Between, signifies the importance of certain parts of the poster and how viewers interpret it. The placement of the image over the print, slightly tilted and framed, makes viewers feel as as though they were walking through a gallery, with the text acting as a label of sorts for the image. However the writing is composed in a very modern way with the print changing size to narrow the viewers focus points. The comparison of these two aspects of the poster contribute to the overall composition, specifically a relationship with the old and the new. This modern and past correlation helps to strengthen the posters religious meaning. By comparing stylistically old images to religious words that change unpredictably in their font size, the relevance of such an old idea as religion is modernized and capable of connecting to a wider audience therefore strengthening the religious messages of the poster.

TEXT: The text of the poster The Space Between, uses its language, color, size to convey the message that earth, specifically Tacoma Washington, is heaven. Through comparisons such as, "Unseen hands sent from above or the calloused hands beside me?" relate humans, of any class or profession as is hinted with the word "calloused", to holy figures. The text is written poetically with phrases like "heaven's eye" which also contributes to the religious nature of the meaning. The text color is brown which develops an aged feeling for the text, which can help to develop credibility towards what the text says about religion.

    1. Repent$500.003 in stock

      Repent:

TEXT: The poster Repent references belief that America has failed Jesus through it's language. While the text references Jesus many times, to me it seems available to many different audiences because of how broad the religious language is. Whether it be Christianity, a major religion in the US and Tacoma, or people who don't view themselves as religious or people of other religions involving the figure of Jesus such as Islam, I would argue that most people can interpret the posters text as long as they're familiar with the figure of Jesus and the US current/past social and political standings.

COLOR: The colors of the poster Repent contribute to the religious messages. The poster uses orange, yellow, and blue as the colors of the print with a white background. The use of yellow and orange, both warm colors which represent humanity, color the image's sun and heart, which can be interpreted as symbols of Jesus. The blue is used as the color of the text, language which speak about a need to repent for wrong doings. Blue, a color associated with sorrow and cleanliness, represents the texts message.
