    1. These inflexible solutions expect compliance and favor students who don’t face significant barriers to traditional learning.

Its hard for students to keep up with he course work or class if they are on a timed limit and are expected to be done in a certain time to meet everyone's needs.

    1. This includes the ability to do things like communicate online and create and share media.

This can also be a negative thing because some people can lie about their age and interact with people who they do not actually know.

    1. I find that the most powerful use of technology in education is when it opens up learning opportunities for all students.

this is super important because some students may not have the luxury of understand teaching as well as others but technology could allow them to go at their own pace.

    1. "The beauty of inclusive pedagogy is that, rather than making special accommodations that would decrease equity, it actually benefits all students, not just those at whose needs it was originally aimed."

      This is so important

    2. "Who has been served, supported, or allowed to thrive by our educational designs and who has not?" And, "How might we design for inclusion of more students?"

Instead of these questions I think it should be " does this work for every time of student?", " Is this able to be used for students with accommodations or students who do not?"

    3. Inclusive design is "design that considers the full range of human diversity with respect to ability, language, culture, gender, age, and other forms of human difference.

This is what we need. All inclusive design that can be used for everyone whether they have an accommodation or not.

    1. These surveillant technologies also track student engagement with course material, logging which pages students have viewed and how long learners spent on each activity

If a student needs to accept this surveillance on their computer for using school and allowing the teachers to view what they're doing. How protective is the website or app being used where it isn't viewing the students during non exam hours?

    2. ncreasingly popular surveillant education technologies like remote test proctoring services harm nursing students

This has been in the uprose the past year due to covid, a lot of my friends have science and math classes that have proctored exams. You can't look away from the screen without getting in trouble, not even to get water. It is very difficult to try to take an exam with having to worry about every single behavior.

    1. Other tools steal student work or data and sell it to make a profit (see the Evaluating the Cost, Privacy, and Data chapter)

this reminds me of the past week when we had to discuss cookies and accepting it. People need to be cautious of what they accept because it steals your data.

    1. Ultimately, learning and development are social processes that happen all the time, including during formal classroom instruction and informal play time during recess or an after school club.

i agree, I would say that a lot of the learning I have acquired over the years has been very informal. Whether it is through soccer or recess or in my own home with my family. I have learned a lot of different ideas surrounding my family and other sports.

    2. They acquire knowledge and skills by communicating with peers, engaging in group activities, and sharing their thoughts and getting feedback.

This is a very important part of learning and creating a better understanding. Engaging with others and being vocal can help a child learn so much more. The activity level and receiving feedback is very important.

    3. You might ask students to create a mind map to help them organize the information

I always used to do this in classes to help remember certain ideas my teacher was teaching. I think it really helped in the sense of finding a way that is unique to you to remember the material.

    1. With more data collected on students than ever before, educators can track the progress of students, design personalized learning experiences, and project where students may encounter difficulty in schools.

This is a good feature for allowance because if an educator can monitor the progress a student makes then it is being used in an effective manner rather than a negative way.

    2. It seems like nowadays most apps, websites, and digital tools ask for permission to use your location, whether it’s to locate the closest store for you, track your running or biking route, or to provide local news or weather alerts. However, what you may not realize is that the geolocation data collected about you is often shared or sold to other companies.

I think this is an important feature many people don't understand all the well. Even if you provide access for location for a one time use, the company continues to collect data from your personal cell and can sell information to other companies. This feature goes unnoticed by others especially if you choose the option of a one time use or only while using the app.

    3. However, many digital tools and apps are not designed with accessibility in mind, and introducing a new digital tool in your classroom that is not accessible can be a barrier to learning.

Having digital tools and apps not designed for accessibility is difficult for students because most students are not super aware of different apps. Having apps that are easily accessible and helpful in the classroom so very important for students learning and how to educate themselves more.

    4. When using digital tools and apps for learning, students will need a way to share their work with you so you can assess their learning and provide feedback.

This is something that has been coming more easily to students and teachers with a lot of remote learning. It is super important to have apps that are easily accessible and easy to navigate for both the students and the teachers.

    1. Each category has a specific set of characteristics, or criteria, against which e-learning tools are evaluated, and each criterion is assessed against three standards: works well, minor concerns, or serious concerns. Finally, the rubric offers individual descriptions of the qualities an e-learning tool must have to achieve a standard.

A rubric is so important for students to be able to think about certain points to hit either in a paper or project. Every-time I have a project due with a rubric, it has been really beneficial to look and refer to the rubric to know how to get a good grade.

    1. Whether it is success stories, epic fails, or creative ideas, you have something you can share that will benefit others. Participating and connecting with others allows you to heighten your opportunity for learning and crowdsourcing.

This is a really good point, when writing it is often people do not have confidence in their stories or knowledge that can be useful. Many people have the idea of not being as good of writing stories, papers etc. The more you practice the better you will get. Students have to learn that writing is just like any other activity, practicing is what gets you better. Unfortunately, a lot of teachers and school districts do not cooperate with helping students become better writers, it is all graded on their expectations.
