He further said that this Indian carried some brown things like nutmegs. The master of the Pinta said that he had found the cinnamon trees.
The Europeans had thought that the Native Americans were carrying around an abundance of cinnamon, however it was not cinnamon. They then showed the Native Americanas what cinnamon was because they had brought some. From there the Native Americans had some idea where more cinnamon was. This would be used for trading.

Their legs are very straight, all in one line,’ and no belly, but very well formed.
The Native American diet had made them in such great shape. They would eat lots of protein, from the animals they killed. They also lived off of various plants. They weren't introduced to sugar yet and so why would they not have a good figure. As I mentioned before, they were basically "working out" all day. Making everything that they owned and going off to hunt for their food, they were very active.

. They have no iron, their darts being wands without iron, some of them having a fish’s tooth at the end, and others being pointed in various ways.
Christopher is making note of the materials that they lack. While also seeing how they used different materials in place of such things, such as iron. I would have to think that he was rather impressed by the creativity and how they made life work with what they had. However, he doesn't want to help, he believes that him and his crew should take them in as prisoners.

and they give all in exchange for anything that may be given to them. I was attentive, and took trouble to ascertain if there was gold
Christopher and his crew had been given many gifts by the Native Americans, even though the Native Americans expected nothing in return. This baffles me because it was their own land and the Europeans barely gave back, I man they gave them some gifts, but they were so focused on finding gold. Hungry for money, they didn't care to ruin someone else's world.

He also understood that, far away, there were men with one eye, and others with dogs’ noses who were cannibals, and that when they captured an enemy they beheaded him and drank his blood…
Here, I wonder if Christopher was scared of this happening to the Europeans. Did he think that this would happen when he first landed on the island? They had to have done intensive research and maybe were spying on them before they actually landed. I can't imagine them coming all that way just o be eaten alive.

or to be kept as captives on the same island; for with fifty men they can all be subjugated and made to do what is required of them…
Here Christopher talks about enslaving the Native Americans. The importance of this sentence is that this is where the start of ruining tribes and taking over land begins. When he says "subjugated and made to do what is required of them" he is bluntly saying that these people will be his labor. The Native Americans were never required to do anything for the Europeans, then they show up and capture them and use them.

They are propelled with a paddle like a baker’s shovel, and go at a marvelous rate. If the canoe capsizes they all promptly begin to swim, and to bale it out with calabashes that they take with them.
At this point Chris and his crew had been with them on their island for some time, he was watching them and the way they work more so than he had before it seems. A question came into my mind when reading this, I wonder if the Europeans ever helped the Indigenous people? When something like this would happen (their boats breaking) would they sit back and watch, or would they go to help? He goes onto say that he was trying to take them somewhere, but they had no intentions of going. Was that what was on his mind the whole time? Maybe they didn't know how to help.

They should be good servants and intelligent, for I observed that they quickly took in what was said to them, and I believe that they would easily be made Christians, as it appeared to me that they had no religion,
This could be coming from the "lens" that I am reading from, but I do not trust Christopher whatsoever. He starts out this journal by saying that they can be friends and that everything is going well and that the Native Americans were appreciated of their gifts. Not too long after that he goes on to say how good of servants they can be. Taking them from a friend level all the way down to being his little peasants. Rude. Then he goes on to say that he can convert them to Christianity without learning their own beliefs. He said it seemed as if they had no religion, so how good of friends were they? Did he even take the time to learn the way they live? He had one mission and it's pretty obvious.

It appeared to me to be a race of people very poor in everything.
Here you can see that there is a lack of respect for the Native Americans. Chris, even though he just met them, was already calling them poor people. However, to the Native Americans, they didn't feel poor. They had everything they needed at that time and made their own way of life, not needing all of the extra "stuff" that the English had. They were rich in the materials that they needed at that time before new things had been introduced.

They are very well made, with very handsome bodies, and very good countenances.
When Christopher says that the Native Americans were "well made" he was talking about the muscles and strength they had. Because they made everything themselves, they had to be carrying around large objects and using their strength to build various things.
