I learned this the hard way. When I moved to the states, I got to a school where I was the only latinx in the staff and the adaptation process was hard, just because I was not fully aware of my social identity and how it was interpreted by others. Throughout the years I learn to stand up for myself, while being empathetic and recognizing others' social identity.

This is highly important. We need to be thought partners in this process to improve our practices, no matter our roles.

I believe this approach is the right one to generate shift in thinking, because the heavy lift is on the teacher. The supervisor has to know and ask the guiding questions that will get the teacher to the best answer to improve their practice. It is more about empowerment and ownership than control.
