      This comic is ironic because the man with the confederate flag hat displays how the word "heritage" is a loaded term. In the first context, the heritage of the confederacy is a point of pride for the man. The second context displays a black female teacher attempting to teach about a confederate massacre while a white male cop bans the lesson. The man in the hat proclaims, "we must bury our heritage". I think this is funny because these kinds of people would never make such an exclamation because they'd rather pretend these events are an irrelevant part of the heritage in the first place. The irony is that they're proud of this heritage in most contexts, yet not proud enough to let the world learn the entire narrative that surrounds it.
