      Bottling up emotions never works out and the best way to destress is to talk about it. People who struggle with this or feel they have no one to talk to should write down their feelings. Any way of expression is better than letting negative thoughts sit.

    2. The stories speak of heroic individual protagonists—the chosen people—whose manifest destiny is to make a positive difference in a dangerous world, even when the world does not wish to be redeemed.

      This reminds me of the idea of the "American Dream". This unrealistic expectation that anyone can be who they want and live happily ever after such as in The Great Gatsby.

      I have never thought about it that way but now I can completely see it. People are thought of as odd if this is not the blueprint they want but in reality, there is no one size fits all for the blueprint of your life.

      I have never heard of talk therapy but it seems very interesting. I understand that many people hold stories in and talk therapy would be a great way to express untold stories.

      I read A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man this spring and I really enjoyed Joyce's style of storytelling. One of the main things I remember is how Joyce played with the myth of Icarus and Daedalus and named the main character Stephen Dedalus. He ends up flying too close to the sun.

      Imagination fuels storytelling but also fuels life's drive. I think of imagination in real life is hope and hope does not disappoint.

      This reminded me of my journal and the struggles I have had in the way I describe my days. There is a conflict between writing down my thoughts and feelings about my days with it looking like a calendar of what I have done in that day.

      This is completely true and that's why stories of the same event change so drastically from person to person. People take into account their feelings and experience when telling the stories. Stories are biased in that way.

      This made me think of how regardless of the profession, communication is a necessary skill, especially in the business world that I will enter into after my time at Syracuse.
