    1. Non-English-based programming languages. November 2023. Page Version ID: 1185172571. URL: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Non-English-based_programming_languages&oldid=1185172571 (visited on 2023-12-10).

This was an interesting topic. It addresses how English is the primary language used for many programming languages such as java and python. In other countries individuals have to adapt to English in order to consume these programming languages. I wonder if programming languages will ever switch over to other languages other than English. I feel like this is honestly needed and will be more effective in the long run.

    1. Do you think this game was realistic?

I believe that the game was mostly realistic. Though as social media is always adjusting based on data I would assume that the results would also be changing. Some aspects such as privacy and how or when posts are needed to be taken down comes down to ethical reasonings. Many of the times certain posts being up can cause controversial opinions and I feel like that's when it could get super difficult. I wonder how significantly the game could possibly change a decade from now.

    1. Jeremy Schneider [@J_Schneider]. Please know, if you’re someone who brings a book to the bar… nobody likes you. February 2022. URL: https://twitter.com/J_Schneider/status/1490416476569968643 (visited on 2023-12-10).

This tweet is bluntly shaming a group of people. "If you're someone who brings a book to the bar... nobody likes you." Like what??? I actually laughed a little because there's no way this person is entirely serious. I feel like it could most likely be a joke to spark up some controversy.

    1. The term “cancel culture” can be used for public shaming and criticism, but is used in a variety of ways, and it doesn’t refer to just one thing.

I have seen so many people get cancelled over huge things and also small things. "Cancel culture" is an insane concept to me because we all collectively listen. Another one I've been seeing going around is the "Block List". I personally like this one as it's for a good cause. It gets peoples attention.

I remember watching the documentary on Meghan Markle. I had never felt so bad. She was constantly targeted for being a different race from her husband. The hate really got to the point where Meghan felt defeated but it never stopped her from exposing and standing firm. Her husband also seemed very supportive as well.

    1. Do you believe crowd harassment is ever justified?

Crowd harassment will never be justified. It makes no sense to bash individual people. Crowd harassment happens mostly on social media. Groups of people come together and target specific people whether that be in the comments or actual posts. It never makes sense why people feel the need to do such harmful actions. Most of the time people do not realize the mental impact it leaves on people.

    1. Merriam-Webster. Definition of ad hoc. December 2023. URL: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ad+hoc (visited on 2023-12-08).

From my understanding an ad hoc may be used to address a problem quickly. I have heard his before but never knew much about it. I feel like this would be very effective especially when testing software developments.

    1. In what ways do you think you’ve participated in any crowdsourcing online?

One example I thought of when it comes to crowdsourcing is the use of google maps / Waze. On these apps I'm able to report anything by adding photos or leaving reviews. Everyone is able to access the same thing and make adjusts as needed. I think it's a great way to keep the public informed on map details!

    1. Mike Masnick, Randy Lubin, and Leigh Beadon. Moderator Mayhem: A Content Moderation Game. URL: https://moderatormayhem.engine.is/ (visited on 2023-12-17).

This game was so fun to play! It basically consisted of many different scenarios of content that could be reported. It asked me to determine if it was correct or incorrect. I feel like I got to learn a lot.

    1. Platform Controls

I've realized over the years that social media platforms can moderate comments and accounts however they would like. Though sometimes many comments and accounts would go against their own rules and still it would not get banned or deleted. It's also interesting because even though they do have all the rights to control their platform why would it be okay to go against their own set of rules and basically pick and choose when something should be presented on the platform. I've seen plenty of accounts get deleted for posting information and vice versa accounts not getting deleted. Information bias is a growing problem.

    1. Trauma Dumping. August 2021. URL: https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/trauma-dumping (visited on 2023-12-08).

A very important part of this article that I had noticed was carefully distinguishing the difference between venting and dumping. I personally had trouble understanding the two when I was younger but I've grown to grasp a better understanding. I enjoyed how this article was transparent. I also noticed how trauma dumping had become super apparent now vs years ago.

    1. While taking a break from parts or all of social media can be good for someone’s mental health (e.g., doomscrolling is making them feel more anxious, or they are currently getting harassed online), viewing internet-based social media as inherently toxic and trying to return to an idyllic time from before the Internet is not a realistic or honest view of the matter.

Being completely transparent on this topic. I believe that taking a break from social media should be something everyone tries to implement once in a while. I used to be addicted to social media and personally I've decided to step away from it, not necessarily delete but I restarted all of my accounts and only use it sometimes. I genuinely feel like I started to enjoy life way more. I think social media can be toxic and it also can be beneficial to many as well. I would not say that it would be considered realistic all the time. But it does matter on the person and the situation!
