    1. “I shall not die but live, and declare the works of the Lord: the Lord hath chastened me sore yet he hath not given me over to death” (Psalm 118.17-18)

An example of a symbol for typology which shows us the connection of the bible and how she is using this to get through this difficult time as she travels with the Indians. She shows many different scriptures from the Bible in this story. I think the scriptures help represent what she is going through and yet are different as well.

    2. wn losses, yet triumphed and rejoiced in their inhumane, and many times devilish cruelty to the English.

Here Rowlandson is describing the perception of the Indians compared to the English. As she says, the Indians at their highest and the English at their lowest. They, rejoicing in the suffering of the English at this time in the story. This explains a lot about what the story will continue to show throughout this passage.

    3. In this travel, because of my wound

During each numbered "Remove" Rowlandson is marking each location of narrative by there new passage, almost like a new scene is being taken on in the story. Starting off with traveling with the Indians and her sick child, to landing in a town that her other children are in and she has to keep her distant, to back to her being wounded and traveling to the next place, and so on. Rowlandson does a great job of keeping you in loop of location by explaining where each spot is as the story continues.

    1. yet the overruling Providence of the great God is to be acknowledged,

This overall paragraph does a great job demonstrating "Providential History" which explains that God had his hand in the creation of land and is being acknowledged for it.

    2. a dragon,

A figure that is protecting and guarding the sacred space. What is up with him? He may not be quite literally a dragon but the typology symbol is used to show how powerful his guarding and protecting is.

    1. First woman took the baby and breathed on her four times. “Now,” she said, “she will be my daughter.”

What a heavy sentence! Can you imagine it? They are claiming children by these different acts and saying "Now she will be my daughter."

    2. One monster came about in a different way

This is a very interesting read because each passage before this describes how the women would have these 'headless' babies and each baby came out a different way which then they were considered monsters by people. Very odd!

    3. his was the first hogan-raising ceremony

I love this entire passage. It describes what they were trying to create. A home which is meant to be a safe place- a sacred and beautiful place to be. This began the hogan-raising ceremony.

    1. “beauty, perfection, harmony, goodness, normality, success, wellbeing, blessedness, order, and ideal.”

More words that help define the meaning that is from different practices and rituals. I love that these words all describe a blissful feeling or attitude which really embodies the meaning of hozho. Wellbeing and success are a few of my favorite words chose from this sentence! I think we all strive to describe our hozho practices/rituals in this way.

    2. Just as weaving has a cosmic component to it, so do string games restore hózhó, by bringing order to chaos.

I personally resonated with this type of hozho practice because I create macrames/dreamcatchers as a side business that truly brings me peace and happiness. I love that hozho means a variety of different practices and could be anything that brings 'order to chaos'.

    3. “Living in Health, Harmony, and Beauty: The Diné (Navajo) Hózhó Wellness Philosophy,” hózhó is not just an important word in culture; it’s an entire “complex wellness philosophy” that includes the basic principles of living.

This message stuck out to me as it shows that Hozho is defined by these three words of health, harmony, and beauty. This reminds me of how hozho adds these elements to peoples lives and created the "complex wellness philosophy."
