    1. “It may be an Apache dialect. Rosita’s parents spoke Lipan, ’roundwhen our people had to go culturally incognito for survival.”

This dialogue speaks a lot on the loss of language and culture in modern times. As cultures, especially from smaller indigenous communities, interact with the mainstream culture, there is more convenience seen by younger generations in being part of the bigger world. Interest in their own culture and language is inadvertently then decreased. This consequently leads to a sense of loss of identity because "If you don't know your own people's language and stories, how can you be part of them?"

    2. Esto es importante.”This is important.“Recuerda nuestra historia.”Remember our history

I liked the use of font styles to indicate which was said and which was displayed as translated Spanish on the app. It's something that we today can universally recognize but something someone from decades before may not.

    1. It wa s as though he haddi spo sed of us somew here along the wa y, dropped us in atrash can by the side of the road.

This passage was something that I appreciated because in many ways, it reminded me of many other instances in my life where I had high hopes for something only to be let down in the end. There is always potential for disappointment so from mine and other people's stories, I learned to adjust my expectations and think of these disappointments as another story or another experience.

Reading this passage reminded me of the creation story in the Hawaiian culture. I have heard of a few other creation stories --- from the Bible, from my own culture, and from the academic culture. In all of them, I agree that it tells you a lot about how each of these groups of people understand and shape their own reality, how they choose to exist, and how they choose to move forward in life.

    3. She didn't really have to ask that question. She knewthe ans w er.

These two sentences really relate to the life of a minority. It tells that while we live in a world of preconceptions, we pretend everything is just as the world should be. We dance around prejudices and shove objections under the rug because "What can you do?"
