    1. n this gray, gray sunrise

The town that she lives in probably has polluted air.

Or in a more deeper matter, Grey is the color of neutrality but it is also a color of sadness. Meaning through the good and bad days, I will be there for you.

    2. Oh, the small delectables of day

It's the small things that matter in life, it's those small things that give you the ability to be happy.

I wonder what the "small delectable" could be?

    3. the talent, the courage, the wherewithal.”

The wherewithal- The money necessary for a particular purpose.

She is telling herself that she was wasting her time doing other things instead of following her dreams, maybe she had depression at that time.

    4. in the comfort of night

The night is the moment in which you feel a sense of comfort, actually it depends on how old you are and how your life is because some nights in your life probably weren't amazing.

    5. So, please, don’t fall as civilizations fall

What can this line mean? Is it talking about the apartment? Is it talking about their culture? It is probably talking about both the apartment and the culture of the person in this poem, which is the Asian culture of course.

    6. like a thin-hipped dowager.

A dowager is an elder woman, who is married to a king, duke or anything in the line of royalty.

Which means that the bamboo is probably really old, explaining why it is stuck in the ground and cannot move.

    7. squats in the sinking earth

So, that is why the bamboo is stuck and unable to move! It was stabbed so deep into the dirt and has stood there for so long that roots had probably grown onto it.

    1. And I got that red lip, classic thing that you like

It's like a Taylor Swift song can not go on without a mention of the color red.

Anyways, the girl in this song is comparing her and the boy to a couple from a 50's movie.

    2. Yeah just take me home, oh

Maybe, she wants to stay with him because of his honesty. I mean, that is a good quality of being a lover, admitting that they did the wrong thing even if it ends up hurting the relationship.

    3. I said "I've been there too a few times"

Basically "I can relate to that." She has been through a lot of relationships before and is probably thinking that it would last longer than she thought it would!

    4. Can't stop thinking about you"

THE HONESTY! He's literally being a great boyfriend right now, admitting that he cheated and admitting that the other girl wasn't better than his real girlfriend. I respect that.

    5. I say "I've heard that you've been out and about with some other girl, some other girl"

Oh gosh, I said this song was gonna foreshadow something. Also, when she repeated "some other girl" I could hear a bit of anger in there.

    6. Takes me home, lights are off he's taking off his coat (Hm yeah)

How are her parents not there? Does she live by herself?

Also, what are y'all going to do? Watch a movie or something?

    7. 'Cause we never go out of style, we never go out of style

They are probably used to the whole fighting thing, and both may reaaallllyy like each other in order to go that far even after arguing for so many times!

    8. And when we go crashing down, we come back every time

They love and hate each other, it's kind of like the song "Love and War" by Tamar Braxton. The relationship has its ups and downs but if they still love each other at the end then everything is okay!

    9. And I should just tell you to leave 'cause I

But ya didn't! You probably didn't tell him to leave because of how curious you are about this relationship! That is exactly why every relationship does not go so well, you don't try to end it even if you see red flags over this relationship.

    10. It's been a while since I have even heard from you

They must have known each other from quite a while, but this can also foreshadow something. Something that could be good or could be bad..

    11. Long drive, could end in burning flames or paradise

Oh boy, this is another one of those toxic relationships songs isn't it? How many of these has she been in?! And why does she keep getting into them if she knows that it won't go so well?! I just can't with all that...

    12. Midnight, you come and pick me up, no headlights

Something is off, they are sneaking out but why tho? Is is a family rivalry or is it a way to go into an affair because the last one wasn't really treating her right?

    1. Even if it's just in your (Just pretend, just pretend)Wildest dreams, ah-ha

"Just pretend, Just pretend" -----> She's telling the boy that she could care less if it was not serious, she wants to be forever in the boy's memories.

    2. Even if it's just pretend

She wants to be in his mind for eternity even if it was just for kicks and giggles. She still wants some kind of sign that he loves her as much as he loves him.

    3. You'll see me in hindsight

The meaning of the word hindsight is "understanding of a situation or event only after it has happened or developed."

Which means that the ex-boyfriend will easily recognize his ex-girlfriends after everything he has been through for her, fulfilling their promise of never forgetting each other.

    4. He's so bad but he does it so well

Another bit of repetition, however we hear that she says the word "bad" in a stronger voice than the last time she ever says it. Meaning that he really is a bad boy.

    5. Nothing lasts forever but this is getting good now

      Repetition: "Nothing lasts forever"

"But this is getting good now" ----> Everything she feared for is suddenly coming true, their relationship is not going so well at all.

    6. His hands are in my hair, his clothes are in my room

They are probably sharing a moment with each other, maybe a kiss. The boy had probably moved in to the girl's house since the line says "his clothes are in my room." She didn't say OUR room, she said MY room. Which shows that she had been living alone for a while.

    7. Staring at the sunset, babe

The sunset has a color of pink, orange and yellow.

Pink is a color of love, romance and acceptance. Which means that even though the relationship will be over, the girl will still have her boyfriend in her heart and will, over time, accept the fate of the relationship not lasting long.

Yellow is the color of friendship and optimism. Meaning that if they break up, there is a potential chance of them being able to be friends. She will also have a bit of optimistic thoughts, thinking the the boy will still remember her like promised.

Orange is the color of enthusiasm. Which is something that the girl may have after she gets a dream of that boy she is still remembering.

    8. Red lips and rosy cheeks

Another mention of the color red. Like I said for the annotation of Blank Space, Red is the color of anger, but it is also the color of love. However, in this song we get a lighter side of the color red which is the meaning of love.

    9. Say you'll remember me standing in a nice dress

She's asking her boyfriend to make a promise. She hopes and prays that he will never ever forget her just like she won't forget him.

    10. Nothing lasts forever, but this is gonna take me down

This is true. Nothing can really exist for a long time, unless it's something that is really rare!

"But this is gonna take me down" -> What is gonna take you down? Your emotions? Your boyfriend? Your relationship? I wonder what she means by that.

    11. I thought heaven can't help me now

Wow, I think she's fearing for this relationship by thinking that it won't really last long. She thinks that she wouldn't be much of a good girlfriend!

    12. Drive out of the city, away from the crowds"

Okay, so the man wants to have a romantic moment with his girlfriend alone. Which means that they will have to go far away from the city in order to do that.

    13. Wildest Dreams

A couple would normally dream about each other if they are so far away from each other. But since the relationship isn't long-distance, this probably means that the lover will be there in memory especially at night.

    1. I mention ‑ easy ‑ Here ‑

"Here" is what she is doing now, she was comparing her writing to a ballet recital which explain why she cannot dance in real life. Because she is dancing with the writing and the way she writes the words.

    2. The House encore me so ‑

She is in her house, enjoying her free time. Where unlike her daydream of being on a stage, she is back to her life of not being able to dance and be free.

    3. One Claw opon the air ‑

Claw means hand for people who don't know the comparison, ballerinas jump with their hand being reached out. I don't know why they do that but i assume that it just brings the elegance into their dance.

    4. Nor hopped for Audiences ‑ like Birds ‑

A ballerina jumps elegantly on the stage but since she couldn't dance, she couldn't have that elegant jump in the actual art of ballet.

    5. No Ringlet, to my Hair,

A ringlet is what a ballerina would wear as an hair accessory, she also isn't wearing that. Which either makes me think that she isn't really prepared for ballet or she is just imagining that she is a ballerina on stage.

    6. And though I had no Gown of Gauze ‑

This is what women would usually wear when doing ballet, this shows that she is imagining herself dancing on stage since she wasn't wearing what a ballerina would wear.

    7. In Pirouette to blanch a Troupe ‑

These are ballet terms for specific moves that you can do during a recital. The only one that I know of however is pirouette, which is a spinning move.

    8. A Glee possesseth me,

Every time she daydreams about it, she starts to feel determined and strong but most importantly, happy!

Personification: Glee isn't a ghost that can possess you, what she really means is that she feels joyful.

    9. No Man instructed me ‑

During this time, men had ruled society. Which meant that woman didn't have a lot of freedom back then. In this line, Man must mean "mankind." So it means that nobody could boss her around and that she can do what she wants.

    10. I cannot dance opon my Toes ‑

"Dancing upon their toes" is what a ballerina would usually do in a ballet recital. But since she cannot do that, I'm going to guess that someone told her not to dance.

    1. So it's gonna be foreverOr it's gonna go down in flamesYou can tell me when it's over (over)If the high was worth the painGot a long list of ex-loversThey'll tell you I'm insane (I'm insane)'Cause you know I love the playersAnd you love the game 'Cause we're young and we're recklessWe'll take this way too far (ooh)It'll leave you breathless, mmhOr with a nasty scar (leave a nasty scar)Got a long list of ex-loversThey'll tell you I'm insaneBut I've got a blank space, babyAnd I'll write your name

Chorus Repetition: You know how the chorus is soft at first but then gets more and more evil by the second? Yeah, this just became 100% psychopathic now. And remember how I said that "Love is either heaven or hell?" Well, this wasn't really heaven at all!

I'm starting to think that the nasty scar was the girl giving the boy a cut from trying to kill him. The blank space is probably in the list of exes that she wants to kill, the flames is that she probably burned everything that had to do with the relationship, and the "take things way too far" is probably that the boy was being optimistic but the girl was being super jealous and manipulative.

    2. Boys only want love if it's torture

Repetition: You say that, but don't act like you weren't doing any wrong in the relationship either. I mean you were the one that made him wanna break up with you.

    3. Boys only want love if it's tortureDon't say I didn't say, I didn't warn ya

This tends to be a bit stereotypical towards men because not all of them are like that. Some men actually treat their women in the right way.

But this also is true, some men are only in it for the money or for "the thing." Some just tend to lie by saying nice things but they turn out to be abusive.

    4. So it's gonna be foreverOr it's gonna go down in flamesYou can tell me when it's over, mmhIf the high was worth the painGot a long list of ex-loversThey'll tell you I'm insane'Cause you know I love the playersAnd you love the game 'Cause we're young and we're reckless (oh)We'll take this way too farIt'll leave you breathless (oh)Or with a nasty scarGot a long list of ex-loversThey'll tell you I'm insane (insane)But I've got a blank space, babyAnd I'll write your name

Chorus Repetition: This seems to take on a more psychopathic approach however. I am starting to think that he was on the list of murders for her.

    5. 'Cause, darling, I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream

Another mischievous line, this line is confirming that the girl is definitely bi-polar. Speaking of bi-polar, the song Lola by Iggy Azalea is what this line reminds me of. With the lyrics "I'm a angel and a demon/ Happy when I act the meanest..."

    6. "Oh, my God, who is she?"

The boy is now questioning himself and is regretting the decision of being her boyfriend. Those exes told you so, but you didn't listen did ya?! This makes me think of the song "Copycat" again with these lyrics..

" Say 'Hello, what's up with you?'/ I'm starting to talk like you do/ Here we go, I'll be gone soon/ Day by day, Everything has changed/ We've grown apart this time/ I can't figure out the reason why/ 'It's funny how much I'd/ Kinda like to see you cry.' "

    7. I get drunk on jealousy

She is comparing her jealousy to a cup of wine. Maybe, she saw him with his friends and is thinking that he was having a good time with them and is placing his friends higher than her. Which then lead to her "Copycat" motive.

    8. Rose garden filled with thorns

Once again, the color red is being mentioned. But we toss the color's meaning of love in the garbage and replace it with anger, wrath, violence, and danger.

The thorns in romantic literature show as a sign that even though there is beauty, the roses in this matter, something terrible lies underneath.

    9. I can make all the tables turn

This sounds like a magic trick or something that would happen in a horror movie. Now, I am suddenly confirming that she is a psycho when it comes to reacting to things. All I can say to the boy is good luck driving a windowless car.

    10. Screaming, crying, perfect storms

Now we are getting the drama, what happened? A break up? an affair? I need to know so I can figure out which one to fight and which one to comfort.

    11. Wait, the worst is yet to come, oh, no

I am guessing that the break-up is happening or worse, the boy cheated on her. But I'm mostly leaning on the break-up side because of how she is copying other people to become closer to him.

    12. Be that girl for a month

She has completely changed herself, and is wondering if the boy likes her now. Which leads to me going back to Vocaloid fan-girl mode and putting these lyrics down:

"I'VE BECOME WHAT YOU LIKE/ I AM WHAT YOU'VE WANTED, RIGHT?!/ SACRIFICED ALL I'VE KNOWN/ I HAVE TAUGHT MYSELF TO LET GO" (Lyrics from the song Copycat)

    13. Find out what you want

I am being reminded of one of my favorite Vocaloid songs "Copycat" by Circus-P and Gumi. In that song "Copycat", it talks about how Gumi imitates other people's looks and personalities in order to be with her lover more, or at least try to.

If you take a look of the video for "Copycat", when the chorus of the song comes around 4 other Vocaloids faces appear on Gumi, but when you expect her face to come around, it's blank. Meaning that she is completely losing herself. So I guess now that Taylor feels as if the boy isn't into her she tries to change herself, losing herself in the process.

    14. You're the King, baby, I'm your Queen

In a relationship, a woman looks forward to being treated like a queen. The man ,being the king, would have to be a leader of the family and head of the house.

    15. Stolen kisses, pretty lies

Another thing describing their relationship, but the lying thing is new. Relationships are built more on trust, so I don't see why the lies are called "pretty."

    16. I could show you incredible things

Repetition: But instead of "I'm better than other girls." We get a softer, more romantic message. She is saying that she is the incredible thing.

    17. Cherry lips, crystal skies

She is describing bits of their date. Also can we please talk about how many times Taylor mentions the color of red in her songs?

Red is the color of love, of course. But it is also the color of lust, anger and wrath. Which means that there will be something happening later. It will be pretty bad..

    18. It'll leave you breathlessOr with a nasty scar

Love is either heaven or hell for you. It can make you feel special or it can make you feel abused, It can be sunshine or it can be rain, It can be happy or it can be sad. It depends on how you think of that person and how you feel about the relationship.

    19. And you love the game

The boy, on the other hand, is normally in it for "that thing." Which means that they would say what the girl wants to hear and stuff like that in order to hit the bullseye of the target.

    20. They'll tell you I'm insane

If an ex-boyfriend of your girlfriend tells you something about them, than that may be 50% true. The other 50% are lies that they are only telling just to get their ex-girlfriend back. However if they tell you she's insane and it turns out to be true, you better run boy.

    21. If the high was worth the pain

Do you really think that she would let him down softly after a break up? There are a lot of different reactions for those! There's the softie, who cries every time she is reminded about the breakup. The cool girl, who could care less about the breakup. Then there is the psycho, who would, and I will sing it if I had to, bust the windows out your car! (And would give you 10 seconds to run before she murders you.)

    22. You look like my next mistake

In the words of the character Ramona Flowers from Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, "He's just another evil ex waiting to happen."

Taylor already knows that this relationship will not go well. So if you do know that then, why go out with him in the first place?

    23. Or it's gonna go down in flames

The second metaphorical choice towards love is that they will break up, in which things will not go so well after that. Trust me, I saw the music video before.

    24. I can make the bad guys good for a weekend

That just sounds mischievous, she's probably telling the boy that she will bring on a dominant and hellish force down on him so hard that every bad thing he did will go away. Basically " If you do something bad, I'll punish you."

    25. Grab your passport and my hand

Passport are what people use in order to travel to different places. She's comparing herself to a different place that is worth taking a vacation for.

    26. So hey, let's be friends

Literally what the line says, meaning that she wants to hang out with the boy and have a close bond to him. Even though she knows that the relationship will not work, she taking a risk and is deciding to give it a try anyway.

    27. Love's a game, wanna play?" Ay

Everything in life is like an RPG, you face your battles and gain experience points from it. Love is technically one of those battles that you gain experience from.

    28. Magic, madness, heaven, sin

Literally what love is, It's magical. Meaning that every moment is unique. Madness, there are a lot of crazy moments that will test your relationship every now and then. Heaven, literally what love is supposed to be. Sin, Lust is one of the seven deadly sins, which can be what love with your partner leads to.

    29. "Blank Space"

The title has been mentioned on this song a lot. It's basically talking about an empty space on a list which the guy had made it on. But what kinda list is it though? List of exes? List of murders? It has to be one of those.

    1. between them without a dribble, without    a single bounce hitting the hardwood

Since the ball is being passed for a countless amount of times, we see that the ball is not touching the floor.

    2. both forwards racing down the court the way that forwards should, fanning out

I don't know a lot about basketball, so I'm guessing that the defense is trying to go after the offense by going to opposite sides?

    3. of a high, gliding dribble and a man    letting the play develop in front of him

Since he failed to defend against the offense, he has to see the offense with the basketball in his hand.

    4. who looks stunned and nailed to the floor    in the wrong direction, trying to catch sight

That player must have fell over while trying to go against a member of the offense team

    5. and swiveling back to see an orange blur    floating perfectly through the net.

This poem is definitely talking about a sport. I mean really, "orange leather" and "orange blur." Not to mention, "lay-up."

Coincidence? I think not. This poem is talking about basketball

    6. an underhand pass toward the other guard    scissoring past a flat-footed defender

since basketball is a team game, teamwork is what helps you get the win! Which means that sometimes you gotta pass the ball to your teammate.

    7. and spinning around to throw a strike    to the outlet who is already shoveling

A spin to a different direction is usually what a player would do to dodge their opponent...I think so

    8. perfectly, gathering the orange leather    from the air like a cherished possession

I am starting to think that this poem talking about basketball, since the color of a basketball is orange.

    9. and for once our gangly starting center    boxes out his man and times his jump

A sport uses physics, in order to get the ball into the goal you have to have the perfect amount of speed into your run and a lot of force and momentum into the throw or the kick depending on the sport.
