Artificial intelligence (AI) could replace the equivalent of 300 million full-time jobs
unreal... kind of scary, not knowing where that might place us in the future with jobs
How will AI affect jobs and the economy?McKinsey global institute says that at the global average level of adoption and absorption and advances in ai implied by their simulation, AI has the profound impact to deliver additional global economic activity of around $13 trillion in the foreseeable future and by 2030, or about 16% higher cumulative GDP compared with today. This amounts to 1.2% additional GDP growth per year. If delivered, this impact would compare well with that of other general-purpose technologies through history. This will mainly come from substitution of labor by automation and increased innovation in products and services. The same report went on to say that By 2030, the average simulation shows that some 70% of companies will have embraced the ai revolution and adopted at least one type of AI technology but that less than half will have fully absorbed the five categories. Forbes say ai has the potential to be among the most disruptive technologies across global economies that we will ever develop.
AI could drive an extra $13 trillion in global economic activity by 2030?!?!?! How should governments and industries prepare for this potentially disruptive technology's widespread adoption and its economic implications?
Will exposure to AI lead to job losses? The answer to this is unclear. Because AI could be used either to replace or complement what workers do, it is not known exactly which or how many jobs are in peril. For this reason, our study focuses on the level of exposure jobs have to AI. It sets aside the question of whether this exposure will lead to jobs lost or jobs gained.
depends on the job?
Those with more education: Workers with a bachelor’s degree or more (27%) are more than twice as likely as those with a high school diploma only (12%) to see the most exposure.
Is this just on where you land jobs in the future, and the more upscale jobs are more exposed with AI. How are the lower scaled jobs going to evolve with AI
19% of American workers were in jobs that are the most exposed to AI
I wonder the expansion of this number, where it started. Where it's bound to go....
changes in technology have often automated physical tasks, such as those performed on factory floors.
I assume changes are made on a daily basis with the rapid speed were evolving with our technology
Why it’s unfair to compareAlthough social media was launched with the (inherently good) intention of allowing users to share real-life updates with their friends and family, it’s now grown a darker side, where photoshopped images, heavily-edited videos and elaborate lifestyles reside.“Our parents used to compare themselves with ‘the Joneses’,” Amelia says. “Now, we compare ourselves to the Kardashians, who have personal trainers, chefs and millions of dollars to help them achieve their desired aesthetic. As a generation, we’ve almost normalised photoshopping images and have passed this on for young girls to follow suit. Although these might attract more likes and give us an instant dopamine hit, it slowly diminishes our self-esteem.”Dr Joanna adds to this point, stating that it’s “imperative” for young people to be educated on photoshopping, so they are aware that these images are often not real. “Parents can help young people by putting time limits on social media usage and encouraging young people to socialise in real life. They can also provide support to young people struggling with their self-esteem by pointing out their qualities and by not focusing on appearance.”From Amelia’s turbulent relationship with food, she has developed a passion for ensuring her children – especially her daughter – don’t have to live the same experiences as she did. “I’ve reframed my mindset from ‘I hate parts of my body’ to ‘I’m so grateful to have it’. For example, I used to hate my nose, but now I know it lets me smell red wine, and I used to hate my belly pouch, but now I know it’s the result of having two beautiful children.“My children are at the age where they’re learning what a balanced diet is. I want them to grow up understanding that all foods are good in moderation and that there’s no such thing as inherently ‘good’ or ‘bad’ foods. “My take-home message is: curate the social media feeds you want to see. Now, I only follow powerful women who exude feminine beauty and are natural to the point where they look unfiltered. And, of course, learn to love yourself, because then everything else is irrelevant.”
This highlights the shift in social media from genuine life updates to a realm of edited images and unrealistic lifestyles. It emphasizes the importance of educating young people about the realities of photoshopping and setting time limits on social media. Amelia's personal journey and message about embracing self-love and a balanced approach to food are valuable takeaways. The article calls for a reevaluation of our digital interactions, promoting authenticity and self-esteem.
Global eating disorder statistics increased from 3.4% in 2021 to 7.8% in 2022, which equals 70 million people internationally.
Big number increase
“Studies have linked social media to increased levels of depression and anxiety, especially as many users tend to post their best pictures, not showing an accurate picture of real life,” says Dr Ann Kearney-Cooke, Psychologist specialising in the treatment of adolescents, eating disorders, body image and self-esteem. “This can leave teens feeling inadequate and can also lead to increased risk of cyberbullying, exposure to online predators and forming dangerous relationships with people met online.”
How does the presentation of idealized self-images on social media platforms contribute to the increased levels of depression, anxiety, and feelings of inadequacy among teenagers?
90% of 13-17 year-olds sharing that they’ve used at least one platform.
that is very shocking, but also a bit concerning... The parents need some more control, because their allowing, if not exposing, their kids to the darkness social media
Evidence shows that the constant and pervasive nature of cyberbullying frequently leads to more detrimental outcomes for victims than traditional bullying, particularly depression symptoms. Given this correlation, it has been speculated that the mental health effects of cyberbullying on the perpetrator could differ from that imposed on traditional bullies.
This kind of shocks me that cyberbullying can lead to more than doing saying something to someone in person
A survey by Campbell et al. (2013) found that driving factors in cyberbullying include reduced social and contextual cues and a perceived lack of consequences. Several major reasons that a traditional bully may stop or avoid their actions in the first place are missing from the online context, such as empathy upon seeing how upset the victim is or fear of social consequences from peers and those in authority.
This explains that cyberbullying can be more prevalent than traditional bullying. In the online context, these factors are often absent, making it easier for cyberbullies to continue their harmful actions.
As people become more familiarized with and exposed to social media, the opportunity to cyberbully increases.
This seems obvious because everyone can say what ever they want behind a screen, because that is what's protecting them.
Helping a child or teen with unhealthy social media use
This is major for the next generation, especially as we grow we learned from our mistakes, and its only best that we teach our kids these things and enforce different rules to keep everyone in a safe mental state.
We all need the face-to-face company of others to be happy and healthy. At its best, social media is a great tool for facilitating real-life connections. But if you’ve allowed virtual connections to replace real-life friendships in your life, there are plenty of ways to build meaningful connections without relying on social media.
I talked about this with my gaming blog, again, do something outside of the digital world with the people you love, its make everything more meaningful and builds so many more memories
Many of us access social media purely out of habit or to mindlessly kill moments of downtime. But by focusing on your motivation for logging on, you can not only reduce the time you spend on social media, you can also improve your experience and avoid many of the negative aspects. If you’re accessing social media to find specific information, check on a friend who’s been ill, or share new photos of your kids with family, for example, your experience is likely to be very different than if you’re logging on simply because you’re bored, you want to see how many likes you got from a previous post, or to check if you’re missing out on something.
How can understanding and aligning our motivations for using social media positively impact our experience and help mitigate negative consequences?
These days, most of us access social media via our smartphones or tablets. While this makes it very convenient to keep in touch, it also means that social media is always accessible. This round-the-clock, hyper connectivity can trigger impulse control problems, the constant alerts and notifications affecting your concentration and focus, disturbing your sleep, and making you a slave to your phone.
What gets me glued to my phone is keeping up with everyone and all the trends that are going on, not necessarily not being left out, but wanting to stay in the loop
Fear of missing out (FOMO) and social media addiction.
I can totally relate to this. Especially when you see all your friends doing something together, and your still stuck at home.

8.5% of young people in the United States were addicted to video games as compared to data from previous studies, which historically estimated the prevalence of video game addiction to be around 3%.
This is only the beginning of the cause. It's bound to only increase from here
The founder of the Summerland Program, Dr. Michael Bishop believes programs like his will become more necessary as technology companies tighten their grip on consumers.
I would help the general public in getting outside to do more than coop inside and playing videos games either along or with your friends
Dr. Tanveer Ahmed, a psychiatrist who mainly treats adolescents told The New York Post that he sees kids every week who are addicted to gaming and he views it as difficult a habit to kick as gambling.
It's gambling in the sense that when you lose you want to keep playing until you can finally beat that level or mission, thats what make its addicting like gambling. You just cant stop.
“Gaming just took over. I was completely wasting my life,”
No real knowledge is used with gaming, is all strategies. Just a waste of time
World Health Organization (WHO) declared “gaming disorder” an addictive behavior in 2019.
THIS IS A REAL THING
“There is a lot more to work on,” Cardoso and Matias said. “Mainly to understand some mental issues that we couldn’t explain. Plus, this is a newer topic, so there is a lot more to uncover and we have a lot of ideas!”

Despite their gaming habits, many participants reported engaging in physical activity. Common activities included team sports, resistance training, individual sports, and combat sports. This contradicted some previous research that suggested a negative association between gaming and physical activity. The participants also displayed healthy eating habits during gaming sessions. Few reported consuming energy drinks or ultra-processed snacks while gaming.

Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD)
seems like a make shift name for gamers specifically
The researchers conducted this study to investigate the multifaceted impact of the rapidly expanding video game industry on individuals’ lives. With over two billion people estimated to be playing video games worldwide, and concerns arising about problematic gaming behaviors leading to potential addiction, there was a need to delve deeper into this phenomenon.
Gamers around the world have been so locked in its changing their development
Smith took to the stage twice during the Oscars ceremony - once to take issue with what Rock had said about his wife, and then less than an hour later, to accept his first Academy Award.
he stood up to his own mistake by apologizing at the awards show during and after.
He added: "Stand-up comics are very adept at handling hecklers. Violent physical assault... not so much."
Valid statement. It seems quite unnecessary for the jokes to take over and make it a more physical for the viewers at the award show
"Jada, can't wait for GI Jane 2," Rock said, in an apparent reference to her shaved hairdo - a result of the hair loss condition alopecia.
seems like such a casual joke to make at an award shows with all kinds of actors
Will Smith slapped Chris Rock in the face on stage at the Oscars after the comic made a joke about the actor's wife Jada Pinkett Smith.

Without Fields, the Bears become a team without much else going on beyond looking to next year's draft, where they currently rank third in the order.
now nothing without justin fields
For some reason, this is a thing. There are people who think that 1 plus 1 does not equal 2. There are still people who think that dinosaurs never existed, too.
interesting
These are the football followers who deny that letting Justin Fields carry the ball more like a running back exposes him to greater risk of injury.

“A lot of people that were there fled the scene and did not stick around to give a statement,” Arrington said. Finner identified the deceased man as Kirshnik Khari Ball, also known as Takeoff of the rap group Migos. “I got many calls from Houston and outside of Houston, and everyone spoke of what a great young man he is, how peaceful he is, what a great artist (he is),” Finner said, later adding that Takeoff was very well respected and nonviolent. “I would not expect him to be involved … We have no reason to believe that he was involved in anything criminal at the time,” Finner said.
Facts all show here with direct quotes from the situation
At least 40 people were at the scene at the time of the shooting, Finner said.
what exactly were they all doing?

Takeoff, who was one-third of the platinum-selling rap group Migos, was shot and killed early Tuesday in Houston, Texas, a source close to the group confirmed to CNN. He was 28.
Personally this hit home for me, being my favorite member of the migos and an all around favorite artist of mine
George Floyd to profit from Mr. Floyd’s horrendous death and his family’s trauma
Kanye trying to make a profit from George Floyd's death?
promote his brands, and increase marketing value and revenue for himself, his business partners, and associates
I wonder if this relates to the white lives matter shirts he is promoting
the maker of YEEZY sneakers, has distanced itself from Ye and Def Jam is reportedly disinterested in signing Ye to another record contract.
This is huge for Kanye because, he is highly known for his Yeezy shoe line along with Def Jam being his go to record label and being completely ignored by them now. This affect his future dramatically.
Ye's White Lives Matter T-shirt, which basically rendered everything else at his last-minute YZY SZN 9
