pg. 228- The innovation of neon light signs were found by Tom Young, a British immigrant in Utah, who took them to Las Vegas for a casino. The innovation of neon signs shaped LV today.

pg. 222- The invention of flash photography came from Rii's interest in documenting the devastating amount of overcrowding in Manhattan. Social reform, and easier access and demonstration of social issues.

pg. 212- Edison's innovations were genius but his ideas of teams and competition were what really stood. He worked with individuals that spanned continents, wasn't disheartened by others inventing lightbulbs, but appealed by their ideas.

pg. 209- Was there competition between firms during the invention of the lightbulb? Were there individuals who refused to embrace the lightbulb due to it being modern tech? Was it found only in businesses first, then houses?

pg. 200- The "first sleep" "second sleep" concept is something I never thought about before. Is it practiced still in other cultures, or since the development of artificial light has it haltered? Is it similar to the "siesta" practiced in Spanish speaking countries.
