    1. Russia's invasion of Ukraine resulted in informal pressure on compa-nies to leave Russia (Markus, 2022). This kind of unprecedented influ-ence was followed by social media campaigns focused on Russia. Theresult of the sanctions and resulting business exodus has affectedRussia's macrostability. This includes a decrease in valuations of Russianassets and the ruble. Markus (2022) suggests that as a result of theUkraine invasion, Russia's competitiveness will decline due to decreasesin technology transfer, supply chain alterations, and a brain drain. The reduction in technology transfer refers to many multinationalcompanies with large R&D budgets leaving Russia (Markus, 2017).Technology is at the center of the knowledge and digital economy. Therefore, Russia loses valuable knowledge from their interactionwith high-tech global companies (UNCTAD, 2022). The sanctioningefforts mean that Russian scientists lose access to valuable intelli-gence. This knowledge loss influences other industries and their globalpartnerships (United Nations, 2022). It also influences the reputationof Russia in the world as a knowledge leader
