      Great ways to start off when you are stuck. Very helpful.

    3. As college students on the threshold of the academic community, many of you probably think that research is about finding answers to a question given to you by your professor. While this may have been true in high school, we would like to propose that a more meaningful research

      This is something that I always though was true, I remember there would be times were I would be so stressed because I did not know if what I was writing was correct, as I was always focusing on what the right answer was for the question being asked or prompt.

    1. On the other hand, creativity can be inhibited if one is overly concerned with following rules regarding "proper" design, which can become a cause of "designer's block,"  just as writers who are obsessed with proper writing style can suffer from writer's block. So it is good to be aware of such guidelines without becoming obsessed by them. 

      When one worries too much about the rules or requirements that doesn't help ones creativity blocking one from coming up with ideas to propose.

    2. When you are stuck, it often helps to look at examples of similar projects that other people have created for ideas. 

      Looking at examples of a project you are assigned to do helps as if you are confused looking at a visual helps pop up ideas.

    1. the answer isn’t obvious and can’t be summarized in a sentence

      A correct answer takes more than one sentence to be summarized or explained. A correct answer most of the time needs a deep explanation.

    1. An important habit we will develop is reflection,

      Reflections are a good way to document how a student is doing and a helpful tool to look back at as well as you can see the changes from reflection to reflection.

    2. This is a reading and writing course with explicit goals: to prepare you to develop a voice and purpose in our community; to use writing as a means to self-discovery through critical questioning and reflection;

      A course that helps you develop skills which can be applied outside of the class.

    3.  Therefore, this class is all about you: your relationship to language, your visual interests and awareness, your curiosity and questions about college, knowledge, and life.

      This class is where you are able to express yourself, for example through your writing as well as it is where you can see the way you navigate through areas such as writing, reading, life, and etc...
