the act of reading becomes a chore
this statement made me think of the books I have read in my life which felt like a chore. the books where my heart isn't really into it and it is hard to push through each page. but when you are reading the right book it comes so naturally and is much easier

Moreover, I did not see any connections be- tween my life and the lives of the characters in those novels and plays.
this reminds me of our discussion of young adult literature being unrealistic. the characters can be hard to relate to which causes readers to disengage.
