      Considering the fact that Black and Latine-majority public schools are predominantly underfunded due to funding for schools being derived from property tax, this is incredibly racially motivated to cut ten percent of the school district's funding, especially because they're teaching the students the power of their culture and history.

      It's very exciting to know that this is going to be mandatory in the next two years! To put that into perspective, that means that the class of 2028 is going to be the first high school class to have all four years access to this. I do hope that the one-semester course requirement will give way to more courses and more specialized subject matter within them as the results show how beneficial it is to have ethnic studies in school.

      This connects back to the Chicago Grassroots Curriculum Taskforce (2015), which sought to incorporate pupils and members of the community into the educational system and vice versa as a means of liberations. The creation of Ethnic Studies programs is a form of liberation as it takes into consideration and involves California's diverse population makeup.
